lanman April 14, 2009 April 14, 2009 (edited) I can NOT get my heaters to stay stuck to the glass inside my tank with the suction cups. Does anyone have a better way of getting your regular old glass and metal heater units to stay in one place in the tank? No... I don't want to put them in the sump - because if I have a power outage, I want to be able to run just the heaters and powerheads off the battery - the main pump kills it in an hour. The only idea I've come up with so far is to glue a frag-mag to the heater in place of a suction cup, and mag it to the glass. I haven't tried it yet Any other ideas??? TIA! bob Edited April 14, 2009 by lanman
Jon Lazar April 14, 2009 April 14, 2009 Put a blob of silicone on the inside of the suction cup, then push the suction cup in place like you would normally. reefmontalvo April 14, 2009 April 14, 2009 Or you could attach a clip to the heater's wire then let it hang in the back ground of the tank in the event you need to take the heater out or you need to get behind it for cleaning.

They hang... and sway in the currents... and are generally distracting. bob

I don't personally have any, but I plan on purchasing a bunch, tired of finding my thermometer floating around and everything else floating around. I have seen these at the Cozy Clownfish and I think the Marine Scene. They may have them at BRK but I can't recall.

droyal1110 April 15, 2009 April 15, 2009 Actually I found them at marinedepot.com for $6.49, http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~cat...ory~FIHTHA.html Maybe we should get in on a group buy? I doubt we would save all that much money but who knows, if we order 100+ (because I'm sure everyone has the same problems) we could get a cheaper price maybe? Just a thought.

For the first time in AGES, my thermometers are sitting quiet and still - and right where I want them!! (I'm sure the montipora one of them was sitting in will miss the heat...) Thanks!!! bob
droyal1110 April 18, 2009 April 18, 2009 Sweet! Glad they worked, now that someone else has tried them first =D I think I'll pick some up for myself as well.
