Then we've got to get a good variety of POTM topics. I didn't really bother to enter this last one because it was overall tank shots, and there's no way I can compete with you or the other established tanks. The same goes for "coolest coral" or "best skimmer" - you're going to tend to see shots win coming from from you, Craig, and the other "l33t reefers" in WAMAS.

 

Is it a bad thing? Heck no, I use pictures from everyone's tank for my screensaver, and frequently borrow ideas. I'm just speculating as to why the POTM might not have as much participation as it could have - people either know they don't have a snowball's chance, or feel a bit discouraged running their dinky zoanthids against the guy who has frags named after him in the club

correct me if I'm wrong, but the 4th pic is definitely larger than the 800x600 rule and perhaps it shouldn't be allowed...

I personally think the pics I take are crap, they look nothing like the real thing, but I enter because I feel I should as a member of the club.

I won a $400+ T-5 system, but I must add that I also bought ~$20-40 of tickets, as I do at most meetings.

Slow down guys. As a professional I will not enter the contests anymore. However, I don't see why Robbie or Rik's names need to come up. Neither one of them are pros nor are they using professional equipment. I can name quite a few members of this club that have 10x the equipment that Robbie and Rik use. If no one enters the contest but them.... WHAT DO YOU ALL EXPECT? I mean come on. You ALL wanted to contest to stay alive. Now you have it and there are still complaints. I am making a thread right now for those of you who would like to submit ideas for topics. Thanks!

I'm not throwing anyone uder the bus. Just that Rik and Rob seem to be the only ones entering! Just bumping so some new blood get in there and realize there is room for others. I have no problems with them entering at all. Only reason I remember Rik so well was cause he won the grand prize at the spring meeting, and I remember giving him tickets as his prize.

 

No slight to you or those guys Chris... In fact, thanks for taking the time to run the contests. It sucks compiling everything and putting it into a form so everyone can vote (and get nothing in return).

Heck yeah, the contests are great... I have entered all of 'em except last month's POTM. I will post the rest in the suggestions thread

I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed. It's only big.
