Just wanted to see if any of the vodka dosers out there are using an auto-doser for it. My schedule is kind of crazy so the thought of having to religiously put X amount of vodka in daily is a pain. I was wondering if anyone knows about using one of those auto-dosers to put in vodka like people normally use them to do CA/Alk. Thoughts?

I just got one of those 5gallon Kent Aquadosers to do this exact thing. Its for my Mom's 90gal.

Also, have you considered just adding the Vodka to your auto top off water. Most people's evaporation is faily consistent. Would be pretty easy to calculate how much to put in each back of new RO water.

Putting the Vodka in the top off is a pretty good idea. Mine currently runs through the Kalk stirrer but I think I'm not supposed to run Kalk w/Vodka so maybe that won't be an issue. One question I was wondering about is if the Vodka goes "bad" sitting around. Didn't know if the alcohol evaporated off over time or not. The add for the BRS doser is what prompted me to start this thread. But after reading more about them, I don't think I'd use one of those for Vodka. I didn't get the feeling their doser was all that precise. Good enough for calcium/kalk but probably not for something that is 5ml a day. Again, maybe diluting it with water would help.

Take a shot, pour a shot in the tank, take a shot, pour a shot in the tank. You just have to hope that you pass out before you OD the tank! :drink:

Oh yeah, you could also use this:

It goes on sale for only $69 (hehe) this Friday. Yes, even BRS is having a Black Friday sale.

How do ypu control; the flow rate? they talk about a timer. I dose 7oz a day of 2 part from them and I have a kalk stirrer for my 240 but the dosing is driving me nuts. the reacter and contoler is in my future but not now.

unless you use an auto feeder for your fish... I just dose with a syringe when I feed the fish.

I don't feel comfortable automating anything which can cause major problems if there is a failure. ie. kalk, alk, vodka.

I had a kalk accident in the past due to a failure in a float valve. It destroyed everything.

Then again, my current tank demands are relatively low and I find that all I need is a couple minutes every morning to dose everything I need in the topoff.

I am auto dosing my liver with Ketle one right now. Should get rid of nitrates and phos right?
