Would the minimal amounts of ozone produced by an Ionic Breeze effect the water chemistry of a tank in a small enclosed room (12x12)?

it puts out ozone? I thought it was just some kind of air cleaner.

Years ago, I looked into what those things were really made of... near as I could tell, they don't do anything but move and filter a SMALL amount of air. My ex-wife got into trying to sell a knock-off product for a while.

i don't know if they put off ozone, but they do charge particals as they pass them and they stick to the metal blades...it isn't much of a breeze...they do make a better one for like automotive applications if a car has an oder problem they place it in it overnight and the next day the odor (dog.smoke. etc) is all gone

ok looked it up for a sec this was on wiki

"Ionizer purifiers use charged electrical surfaces or needles to generate electrically charged ions. Ions attach to airborne particles which are then electrostatically attracted to a charged collector plate. This mechanism produces trace amounts of ozone and other oxidants as by-products[3.]. Most ionizers produce less than 0.05 ppm of ozone, an industrial safety standard. There are two major subdivisions: the fanless ionizer and fan-based ionizer. Fanless ionizers are noiseless and use little power, but are less efficient at air purification. Fan-based ionizers clean and distribute air much faster. Permanently mounted home and industrial ionizer purifiers are called electrostatic precipitators "

it doesnt seem enough to me to cause any harm

treesprite, it's an air filter, but from what I've read, it puts out some ozone as a by product.

As for how well these work, I don't think they're that effective and I wouldnt buy one. My cousin moved and didn't want to bring it along so she gave it to me. I had the oreck one (fan-based) and it was pretty crappy. Thought I would give this a shot and see how it works since it's free. There's a noticeable scent coming from the output of the filtered air...

not a bad scent I hope...

haha. It's a "distinct" scent, but it doesn't bother me. In a large open area, you probably won't even notice it. It might be bothersome to some... kinda similar to how some people like the new car scent, while others hate it.

Ever use a commercial typer laser printer? That's the smell.
