Gadgets May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 My bubble tip split the other day. Good thing is it's still in the same whole as the original.
Gadgets May 12, 2008 Author May 12, 2008 No they are both in this hole. Old pic, but gives u an idea of where they are.
EBR May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 Not that I would ever doubt it, but what was YBN "right" about? My RBTA split yesterday, too. Matt
YBeNormal May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 I told Chris that the RBTA would stress and split soon after he relocated it to the new tank. I believe I predicted that it would happen within about two weeks of the move.
vaironman May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 (edited) In case anyone who does not know, most of the anemone naturally splits due to stress just like Bob, YBN, said. The effect of its splitting is to increase its/their chances of survival. There was an article on wetwebmedia.com that I remember reading, with a quick search on keyword "buble tip anemone split" or similar like that, for a friend about a year ago. Pretty well written article. It happened to me also about when I was still learning how to dose kalk. And I was excited back then to see it naturally splitted. Actually, it splitted into 3 different anemones within a week. All 3 survived well after. Did a few large water change shortly after and corrected the way of dosing. Edited May 12, 2008 by vaironman
Sugar Magnolia May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 Wow, everyone's splitting! Mine, a GBTA, has been trying to split for weeks. It finally has two "feet", but the body is still whole. <-----------Waiting patiently.
vaironman May 12, 2008 May 12, 2008 Congrat Chris! Sugar Magnolia: use a razor blade and cut right thru the body if the mouth already splitted. Same/difference technique that Chip showed us.
