Boret February 11, 2008 February 11, 2008 I am way overdue on a Tank thread, so here I go. Some of you might recall my rocky beginnings. Just to give you an idea, this was my tank in august of 2007: I do acknowledge my ghetto light supporting brackets!!! This is a few months into the hobby: And this is my tank now: It is still a work in progress but with the invaluable help of many WAMAS members I would have not survived the first 6 months. This hobby really humbles you, and sometimes kicks you when you are down. I have spilled water all over the place, I have killed fish and corals, and I have been very close to call it quits a couple of times. But I am excited now with the progress, I do feel very happy with the way it looks, even though it is still far from what you guys have. I have some really cool things like these which I got from HowardofVA: Or these that I got from dschflier: Or the tons of good equipment (finally!!) that I got from CaribbeanJake and some frags: I will keep posting as I keep advancing. These are just a few of the cool things I've been building lately: A Fuge Oveflow and repositioning of equipment. Which, btw, I am pretty proud of. I moved everything into that room all by myself. Next time I am getting a case of beer and calling upon WAMAS.... It is awesome to be here, awesome to be a WAMAS member and I hope to keep on reefing for a long time!!
Connor February 11, 2008 February 11, 2008 I would be careful with the Yellow and Blue Hippo tang in that small of a tank, they will out grow it very fast. Connor
Boret February 11, 2008 Author February 11, 2008 I would be careful with the Yellow and Blue Hippo tang in that small of a tank, they will out grow it very fast. Connor I think the Yellow already out grew the tank. Might have to consider an exchange. The thing is, that yellow tang has been with me almost from the beginning and I feel really bad about letting him go. I am already thinking about going to a 90 or even a 110 if I can stay at 48' wide. So maybe he will stay happy there till then... In the meantime, he seems pretty happy, being that he is the boss an all. Looks healthy and has very nice coloring, compared to other yellow tangs I've seen at LFS.
treesprite February 28, 2008 February 28, 2008 your tank looks good. I know how hard it would be for me to give up fish that I've had for a long time and was able to keep healthy and strong and beautiful, so hurry up and upgrade your tank!
jamesbuf February 28, 2008 February 28, 2008 new pics with all the frags you got at the meeting? Well I know he just got a new 120gal, so I'm expecting new pics pretty soon.
Boret April 12, 2008 Author April 12, 2008 Well I know he just got a new 120gal, so I'm expecting new pics pretty soon. LOL I sold the 120 and I got a 92 Corner tank. So that is the direction I will be going. This is going to be tricky, now that I know more of what needs to be done I have a long TO-DO list. My new planning concern comes with the idea of having a close loop built into the 92 corner tank. I should probably start a new thread for the new tank. DBartco, pics of the frags I got at both meetings will be coming soon. At some point I need to learn to take good close up pictures....
Boret February 24, 2009 Author February 24, 2009 Feb 2009 Picture Update Fairly soon (I hope) I will have the 92 up and running and the 55 will be history. I just wanted to update this thread with the latest pictures. (I used a friend's DSLR.... what a difference!!)

Boret February 24, 2009 Author February 24, 2009 Tell me about it..... I feel bad about taking it down.... I know so many corals will break :(
flowerseller February 24, 2009 February 24, 2009 Tell me about it..... I feel bad about taking it down.... I know so many corals will break :( Don't feel bad if they do break. You know we're here for you if they do. Tank looks great BTW.
Boret February 24, 2009 Author February 24, 2009 (edited) He he he he!!! I think it looks a bit crowded. Too much stuff in it for a 55g. But thanks for the compliment!! Edited February 24, 2009 by Boret
