Well, the eagle eye zoas are still toast, but I come home last night and Mrs. JP says 'You better look at the RBTA'.

I see it's crawled under the rock it has been perched on and just hope that psycho urchin hasn't chased it into a hole. Somehow it looks like it's covering more ground than usual laterally . . .

Upon closer inspection I see . . . two feet and an obvious tear, still partially connected. Yee ha!

The tomato was getting freaked out by us staring at it, so we left well enough alone for the night - I hope to get some good pictures this evening.

Chip or others - any advice or husbandry I should be doing while we wait for it to heal? Fresh carbon, water change, suppliments I need to buy?

Let's start a new set of thread with good surprises.

You can change water but it's not neccesary.

Leave well enough alone unless the "split" does not finish very soon.

Then cut it with clean scissors or sharp blade.

Congratulations.

Excellent; good to read a positive post! Congrats.

Good mojo going forward: missing starry blenny found a few hours later in my sump. Apparently he took a little waterslide ride in the back-siphon (1/2" pvc for some of it - ouch!) when I took my main pump off line to clean it. Thankfully he took the route back to the sump and not the floor.

wife just said they are completely split and an inch apart.

Will we be able to tell which is the parent and which is the clone? Do they fight or will they stay close together?

jp

 I had to manually cut mine - Jerk! Guess my water conditions suck, or maybe just the husbandry in general.

Slow on getting there with the urchin. Leave for Vegas tomorrow, so if you can hold till I get back on Mon? I will make up to you with frags. Feel free to give to anyone that wants....

No worries Douggie - Don't be afraid to split 8's if the dealer is showing five or less. I remember an entire table of Japanese yelling at me at once in Japanese when I did that in AC.

I am glad you'll see your old BTA when you come get that homewrecker urchin. I might put it up for sale with a Monday deadline if you're not taking it for the school tank. It's eating my closed loop pipes!!

Yelling about what? You *always* split 8's....*always*. :)

Now, splitting tens....well, that will get you in some trouble!

T

sometimes you get on a bj table where people go INSANE if you don't follow those unwritten rules.

Dealer's showing between 2-6, meaning he'll have to hit at least once, meaning a good chance of busting (I guess) so conventional wisdom says everybody stays with anything above 12 - I split my 8's to have two hands to go against that and they all went Jackie Chan on me. One lady was even waving her little cheat notes at me.

It's kind of funny now.

Here are some pics. It should be interesting to see where they go from here. I don't think the tomato likes it that they are tucked under the rocks for now.

welcome back you highroller - how were the blackjack tables?

There are at least three, it's awesome. You set me up good Doug.

As much as that urchin bugs me by eating the paint off my plumbing, I think I'm gonna keep him now - what a conversation piece with the zoas stuck to him.

Wow, glad I caught this thread. I was just going to post a question about BTA splitting. My BTA has been unusually retracted for the past two or three days. (My misbar perc is pretty unhappy) Today, half of it is puffed up but looking considerably smaller than the other half which is defalted and tucked under the rockwork.

Is this normal before a split? Just wondering if I"m going to wake up one morning with two instead of one.

Oh and congrats on your split!!

I'm not really sure as to what happened, and I observed nothing out of norm the day before the split. It all happened in under a day's time. I could see that the flesh was torn and jagged where they were connected when it split the first one off, then the main part crawled back farther behind the rockwork and split again. I didn't see any of them being more or less inflated.

Good luck with yours - keep us up on the progress.

I'll tell you what's creepy -

Hopefully it will grow one before it starves!

Check the edges for a mouth. Mine split the night it was bought, and in the a.m. the mouth was on the side and since then somehow it's migrated to the center. Talk about creepy....

very interesting

I still can't tell if mine is completely split. If it is niether one has moved from where it sits. I just fed it a chunk of silverside to see if I could tell when it closed around the fish, but no luck.

st9z - Is that short for 'Saint Nines'? I can't figure out your nick.

I didn't do anything with the intent that it would get the anem to split. I would give it one krill or else a fingernail sized hunk of silverside every couple of days. It just happened, I had nothing to do with it.

SugarMag - if it's out where you can get a look at it you might have better luck after lights out, when it retracts so you can view the foot structure. Otherwise you'll just have to wait and see. Mine definately moved and I hope they all come back out in the open.

Hey Jp,

st9z is a cross between star, spaz, and my soccer jersey #9. My high school soccer team used to call me staz. Weird but eh what can you expect from high schoolers :)

I have been feeding my anemones anchovys every other day and it has not split yet. :( I hope it does soon.

Yep! started last night and this morning I see it is almost centered. So I now have one clone looking great, front and center, and the parent and second clone behind the rocks thinking about things.

Anchovies!?
