gudgreef December 4, 2007 December 4, 2007 I'm putting a closed loop on my 90 (50px-x pan world pump) which has 1" input and output. Is a single 1" return OK or should I split it for 2 returns. I was thinking a single 1" might have to much suction for passing fish, etc? tom
rioreef December 4, 2007 December 4, 2007 Depends on the location of the pump to the outlet into the tank (i.e., pipe length, diameter, type of elbows, etc). Use the Head Loss Calculator on ReefCentral to determine output into your tank. Run the numbers again with two outlets and the additional pipe. Actually, my larger fish seem to like to pass in front of the outlets, especially my Tunze and go for a ride. They even swim into the strong water current as well.

You can make a box that dispearses the input and fit it over your current one. This will spread the suction out.
