zotzer October 3, 2007 October 3, 2007 I am cycling a little 12G Aquapod, and there are two spots where "ant hill" is the best description I can come up with. Nothing like this in my main tank....what sort of critter does this? Thanks! Tracy
BeltwayBandit October 3, 2007 October 3, 2007 I'm assuming you have sand as the base? As to what is doing it, it could be any thing that burrows in the sand. Try watching them after the lights go out and it is dark to see what comes out. If you have a red light that will help you see whats going on.
zotzer October 3, 2007 Author October 3, 2007 yes, there is sand, although only about an inch. Will try the "after dark" thing. Tracy
lanman October 4, 2007 October 4, 2007 whats a lugworm? One of those sneaky worms at the repair shop that tightens your lug nuts so tight you can't get them off if you get a flat tire. bob
Sugar Magnolia October 4, 2007 October 4, 2007 (edited) hehe Bob! http://www.enature.com/flashcard/show_flas...rdNumber=SC0144 It's basicly a polychaete that digests the organic contents of the sand then spits it back out, creating little mounds of sand/mud, depending upon where in the world they are located. Well, that's what it is! The only thing I've seen coming out of the hole (yes, there is a tiny hole in the side of the ant hill) are little poofs of sand. Tracy
