jamesbuf November 9, 2006 November 9, 2006 T5s should be 3-4", from what I have heard. I have my T5s around 10" off the water and my corals are doing fine.
johnnybv November 9, 2006 November 9, 2006 8" se 250's Mine at home are 8"9" off the water Ushio 250 10K, VHO actinics 3"
Charlie97L November 10, 2006 November 10, 2006 I have my T5s around 10" off the water and my corals are doing fine. yeah, but you're not getting optimum penetration with them at that height... you get some really high demand sps, and put them on the bottom, you might have some issues.
flowerseller November 10, 2006 November 10, 2006 I have my SE250w halides about 10" off the surface. 03's about 8" Now, I do have a very choppy water surface which plays huge in how the light penetrates. This is why I believe my cup soral plate as opposed to cup. ! also think the same for ErikS and how more than just his monti plates encrust longer before scrolling or branching.

I have mostly softies, and all my SPS I have are already at the top of the rock. If I ever get any expensive SPS I'll make sure to move it down. Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for letting me know. no no, i meant if you have high light sps, they'll need to be on the top. sorry, i wasn't clear.
