rrubberbandman September 1, 2022 September 1, 2022 Need some help- Removing the rock to get at bubble algae is not a viable option. I am going to try and pluck them off with some feeding tongs but I have to ask! If they pop does that mean I am doomed?? HELP!
treesprite September 1, 2022 September 1, 2022 Don't pop them! Emerald crabs will eat Valonia, but there is a possibility that they will break them, causing a worse problem. Bigger crabs might do a better job, but of you have small fish, there may be a problem, and you will need to watch for the crabs picking the polyps from corals.
YHSublime September 2, 2022 September 2, 2022 Emerald crabs. It’s the easiest solution. In always have a few in my reef tanks, coupled with peppermint shrimp for aiptasia, I’ve found it a winning one two punch.
howaboutme September 2, 2022 September 2, 2022 Is it a lot? If it's just a few here and there, I'd just pluck and remove. I've had a few and luckily they've been accessible. I just take my turkey baster and in one motion, nudge them loose and suck them up w/o popping them.
rrubberbandman September 2, 2022 Author September 2, 2022 Hey all, Its all in one area....and they are spreading in that area. Going to look into a few more emeralds as I only have two. also going to be plucking them off in the meantime. My question is what exactly do bubble algae feed on?. Its the only nuisance algae left in my tank everything else has gone through its own stage and disappeared. So irritating!
