davjbeas July 1, 2022 July 1, 2022 When using muriatic acid to clean aquarium parts In mixing with water. Do you add the acid to the water and not water added to the acid? Thanks
lowsingle July 1, 2022 July 1, 2022 If you decide to use a different cleaner I recommend citric acid as it is cheap, easy to acquire and smells good ? I switched from vinegar to citric and couldn’t be happier…… Darren
davjbeas July 1, 2022 Author July 1, 2022 I just got a huge jug of vinegar from Costco. Also when I use the acid I plan to wear gloves and eye protection. David

howaboutme July 2, 2022 July 2, 2022 I use citric acid as well. It's less harsh than vinegar and just plain easier to use than muriatic acid. I use the Milliard brand from Amazon. No need to spend big bucks on simple stuff from BRS or other specialty hobby stores. Plus, you can use it for many other things.
lowsingle July 3, 2022 July 3, 2022 I get it on Amazon for cheap….I add a few tbs to some tap water and run the pumps in them overnight. By the next morning I brush them down with an old toothbrush and they are good to go…. Just FYI, some say vinegar can cause damage to magnets over time, though I have never seen it happen when I used vinegar. That said it worried me enough to switch to citric acid. Darren
