bues0022 June 13, 2022 Share June 13, 2022 Fish selection opinions needed: I’m ordering a couple fish for my 130. I want a third to get over the free shipping hump. Currently I have a pair of clowns and a couple mollies. I’m ordering a pair of swallowtail angelfish. I’m considering either 1) longnose butterfly fish, or 2) lavender tang. Tank is about 4 months old. Which would you get?
beatle June 13, 2022 Share June 13, 2022 Kinda depends on what the rest of your stocklist is going to be. Adding your most aggressive fish last can help to mitigate this to an extent, though the lavender tang does not appear to be a big jerk. I'd lean towards the butterfly, though beware corals and clams.
DFR June 14, 2022 Share June 14, 2022 Between the two, the tang may be the better option. They are generally easier to get eating, and will help with algae that may start growing in your system (as it’s only 4 months old, an algae outbreak may likely be around the corner). NoVaJimmy June 22, 2022 Share June 22, 2022 I would also go for getting in that tang now rather than later
lowsingle June 22, 2022 Share June 22, 2022 Tang should go in last as they tend to be the most aggressive. Pretty much every tang I have owned has been a jerk (though I never had a lavender tang) Darren
