We find this affliction with some of the wild-collected zoanthid colonies that come into the store. It acts like a bacterial infection but so far we have not found any particular antibiotic to be effective against it. We've tried kanamycin, nitrofurazone, furazolidone, erythromycin and minocycline. What does appear to work to a degree is to isolate the afflicted colonies and use intense water flow and mechanical filtration to remove the debris resulting from the infection. This generally does not save the infected polyps but will help prevent the spread to others in the colony. If you want to bring some of the nasty tissue to the store maybe we can look at it under the microscope and try to figure out what it is. Long shot, but worth a try maybe.

Looking for the best deal on a 90g Tech Series... any LFS ideas?
AndrewB replied to Nick's topic in General Discussion
Other than the features that Nick mentioned, the two really nice things about this tank is that there is no center brace to impede light over the tank, and the overflow box is long and narrow and thus doesn't take a whole bunch of space away from aquascaping. -

Ghost shrimp. Nice and small (no choking), no disease on them and the lions love 'em! Plus they're a bit more nutritious than the goldfish and they'll survive long enough to be hunted and eaten in a marine tank. BUT, get them on frozen food as soon as reasonably possible.

For those of you on the Maryland side, SCALES has it too. If the Cyclop-Eeze is disintegrating into tiny pieces when you put it in the water it probably thawed and re-froze a couple of times. Get a new pack and try again.

Wouldn't you love to stumble upon some magnificently-colored Zoas in your local fish store, take them home, propagate them, and then sell them for silly money with an even sillier name for them? We have some of those in stock right now! Small rocks start at $14.99! I have one I think I'll call... "Hangover from Romulan Ale" And another... "Crouching Dragon Eye, Hidden Tiger Stripe" No, don't like that so much... Here's a good one... "Moulin Rouge" Well, come by and pick some up so you can pick your own designer name for them instead getting stuck with mine! We have some amazing blues, pinks, oranges, reds, greens, yellows; both multicolors and single color.

We accidentally ended up with 30 small Maxima clams! Don't know how, just happened. Here's the deal. They are aquacultured from Vanuatu. There is a mix of gold, blue, purple and regular old brown specimens. Each is between 3/4" and 1.5". The best part: They are all $29.99! Here's a lousy pic that hopefully you might be able to see some of the potential for a miniscule amount of money: Also in stock for you Redskins fans: A gorgonian with burgundy stalk and gold polyps. For everyone else, beautiful LPS including Torch, Hammer, Frogspawn, Heliofungia, Trachyphyllia, Fox coral, nice mushrooms and much, much more. If you haven't been down in a while, stop by to check it out!
