  3. On Saturday April 14th 2007 we will hold our annual spring event. This is an all day event featuring 2 speakers, food, vendors, large raffle, etc. This year our speakers will include: Pre Registration Ends March 31st!!! Biography: I am a natural historian of sea anemones with strong interests in coral reefs, the deep seas, and high latitudes. A convergence of my research activities on the biogeography, evolution, systematics, reproduction, and symbioses of these animals and their relatives led me to build a database through which I could interrelate seemingly disparate aspects of biology. As I began to locate what is known (and, by implication, to identify what is left to be discovered), I became increasingly concerned with limits to knowledge, and how precision and accuracy must be considered as part of what is known and what is not. Biography courtesy of http://cmbc.ucsd.edu/about/DaphneFautin.doc Richard Harker has been a reef hobbyist for 14 years. His first reef tank was a 90 gallon tank with primarily soft corals. The tank evolved into a stony coral tank in the early 1990s and he has primarily maintained small polyp stony corals since then. In 1995 he stepped up to a 300 gallon reef tank. Photos of the tank have been featured in numerous hobbyist magazine articles and is included in Mike Paletta
  4. There aren't really any LFS out there that I can think of. As said in a previous thread your best bets are House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie and Exotic Aquatics in Parkville. They are both worth the trip. -Jess
  5. I second george's comments that a trip to all LFS are worth it. House of Tropicals and Exotic Aquatics are well worth the time of day. -Jess
  6. Aquarium Center has been on the decline for a number of years now. The current owner must have lost interest, or drive. Something of the sort. It is being bought by one of the dry goods managers ( Mike Anderson I believe), anyway, mike has been trying to get Rich to sell him the store for a number of years. Apparently they have finally come to an agreement. If you went into the store this past week, they are clearing many items out due to a few renovations. The store closed at the end of business today (friday) and will reopen on Monday. The store will now be called Aquarium depot. I wish them the best of luck. Running a business such as that is a hard thing to do. Exotic Aquatics is located in Parkville, MD about 30 mins from Aquarium Center in Randallstown, MD. The store owner, Phil, is a good guy, he just sponsored our CMAS Fragfest two weeks ago. Some very quality corals and livestock are to be had there. Certainly worth the visit more than once! -Jess
  7. I work for a Concrete & Lumber company on the Baltimore, Maryland Side, we have gone through about 4 pallets of the dowflake this past week. We are selling 50lb bags for 12.50... Just FYI. From what I understand, it is not hard for us to aquire. -Jess
  8. Thank you Dave. As I mentioned above, please make any changes necessary to keep everything in order. I just thought posting it sooner than later would allow for a few more trades -Jess

  12. I like the grey as well. Contrast is nice and it brings the forums up off the background, kind of sets them apart.
  13. THANKS! I would not trade this fish for anything, also, at a price of $139 - you certainly would not be able to beat that!! Absolutely beautiful fish.!! I can't say that enough... lol -Jess
  14. They are very easy to keep and this one ate flake food right out of the bag. I mix Formula 1, 2, and Prime Reef all in one container and feed that to my tanks. He also eats cheesy old Tetra Color Flakes. Thanks, Jess
  15. Thanks for all the comments Chip - I started off with a pair and unfortunately the first one did not make it through the night. I think my maroon clown is the culprit of that. I have had this fish in my tank for about 2 months now. Without a doubt, he is one of my prized fish. Raf - I aquired a pair from a friend of mine that was getting out of the hobby. Lucky for me it was at a price cheaper than the retail of one. I would recommend this fish to anyone, he is full of personality, color, and, in my tank, swims in the open all day long. Also... shhh, don't tell the experts, but he is in an open top tank, and has not lived up to the fire fish etiquette of jumping... KNOCK ON WOOD! Thanks for the comments!
  16. Hello All - I'm new to posting here on WAMAS - although i am not a stranger to CMAS. Just thought i would share a pic of my Helfrichi that I took a week or so ago.. He has such beautiful color to show off for you all! Enjoy, Jess
  17. I would definitely have to agree with George. Those two corals look completely different. I can not see a coral being able to change that much over a few years..... Just my opinion. Plus, george is a pretty good source for info. He's like a pocket history book.
