  1. Showoff. That is pretty cool though. It looks sinister to me, probably because it reminds me of when Darth Vader had his helmet lowered onto his head. creepy
  2. Yeah, for real. He's probably the only one in the group with a linear actuator that raises their canopy.
  3. I take it that fish will stay in the 54 by himself to afford you more variety in the big tank?
  4. That fish is hella cool. I gotta get one someday. Thats the kind that wont kill everything else in the tank if it dies right? What kind is it again?
  5. Scales has a few sea hares in stock right now. They are small, not the huge ones, so they should last a while. I can also give you a few of my baby snails if you want. They'll multiply and take care of any HA you may have.
  6. shhhhhhhh. eepka attha etweenba usya
  7. I agree. Unless you have an intank refugium, it probably died from starvation. Get one of these http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=OE1086 and put it on the back of your tank. Once coraline starts to cover the plastic, it blends into the tank nicely. Put some caulerpa or something in there and you've got yourself an in-tank refugium which will allow for a safe place for your pods to grow as well. There are slits in the bottom where they can swim out and eventually get picked off by the fish. I have one of these and I've been successful in keeping a cleaner goby AND a cleaner wrasse for well over 6 months now. My wrasse literally stalks the underside waiting for unsuspecting pods to slip through.
  8. Just keep cramming down those donuts big boy. Don't you worry about me. I've actually done this before. Not to mention seeing all my overweight patients coming in with all their health issues will be motivation enough for me. Its gonna be a fun couple months.
  9. I have the gatevalve mod on my G5 and have a PVC "T" at the end of my output, which is just at the top of the water level in the sump. The water hit the inside of the "T" and flows through out through the other two directions of the T, and the output skims across the top fo the water so if there were any microbubbles they aren't projected into the water column. Since you are using a much larger feed pump, I don't think this would work for you. As far as the feed pump, I've seen the 45 degree pvc on the deltecs and euroreefs and they have the water projecting slightly upwards. I have mine projecting perfectly perpendicular to the bottom of the sump. It gives the bubble column a nice circular motion inside, which again, it what I see most deltecs and euroreefs do. Online time will tell which is right. You'll only really be able to tell when you have a ton of fish producing waste to pull out of the water. I think you'll be fine. Your bubble column looked really thick inside the skimmer. I'm sure you'll be amazed at the crap its gonna pull out of the water.
  10. I thought it didn't matter about the skimmer, I thought it was supposed to be 1.5-2 times per hour of your total water volume for any recirc skimmer. Not sure on this though. I figure if I take pressure and height loss from the maxijet 1200, it probably lowers it down to about 200gph which is about 3 times per hour of my total water volume. I would put a gate valve on the Sen pump when you actually have the 300gal up and running so you could adjust it accordingly. The main thing for me was that I didn't want the skimmer pumping out alot of microbubbles to cloud up the tank. I don't have any bubbles coming out at all right now. I'm going to keep it like it is and see how it goes.
  11. I modded my G5 this weekend and I couldn't be happier with the results. I did it the same exact way as yours. The bubble and foam production is soooooo much better. I'm only feeding it with a maxijet 1200 since I only have 42gallons in my main tank and about 30 in the sump. The skimmate is definitly darker than it was before.
  12. Sorry, I don't accept medicare
  13. I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On to the clinical year!!! I was so confident going in and man did that change during the exam. Far and away the hardest test I've ever taken. Only 22/34 students passed :( Thanks for the support everyone. David, I am in Physician Assistant (PA) School. The best way to describe it is the first 3 years in Medical school crammed into 26 months. I'll see patients and diagnose them just as a Doctors do: writing prescriptions, ordering labs/imaging, etc, but I practice medicine under another Physician's license. Alot less bureaucratic nonsense involved so I spend alot more time with patients, which is a major reason why I went this route. .....that and I don
  14. can't sleep. too nervous. ARG!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. After hundreds of gallons of coffee and redbull, tons of sugar, and countless hours studying, tomorrow is finally the big day. I've got my board exam tomorrow to get into the clinical year. I'm feeling pretty good and at this point I just want to get it over with. I promise to stop the whining after its over Wish me luck.
  16. well done. Now I wished that I hadn't sold my two aquaclear 500s.
  17. I just reread when my last message. I didn't mean to have the main pump cut off and on. I mean to have a powerhead that turns off and on. I just wanted to clarify.
  18. The regular "box" megaflows get an estimated 600gph, but the corner overflows are supposedly only rated for 400gph, even on a 92gal corner tank. Sounds stupid to me, which is why I was wondering how much extra flow I could expect from using the second hole as another drain. Any ideas? I'm sure it'll be trial and error. I'm a long ways away from actually setting up the 92gal anyways, but of course the plans are always running through my head . The latest plan is to use a SQWD and my wavysea, but if I'm only allowed so much flow I'd rather have a strong wavysea as compared to a both a weak powered wavysea and SQWD. http://www.all-glass.com/products/aquariums/index.html Then click on "megaflow" on the left side panel. It gives a rating for the tank sizes. Sorry for the highjack, but I do think its relevant to your case. You could always just put the Mag 9.5 onto the wavysea and just have that as your flow and forgo the maxijet mod. I personally would get a pump that you can have on a timer so it turns off when the lights are off, to stimulate calmer seas. Just an idea.......... ah, spent too much time on here. Exam at 8am. Still a long night ahead. Curse you WAMAS
  19. the standard overflows (non-corner) are usually rated up to 600pgh, so you should be fine. I was just curious to know how much extra flow someone could get out of using the other pipe as a second overflow drain, which is what I thought you were doing.
  20. So I see that you're using both holes in the overflow as returns, and sending the water back through the wavysea. Not a bad idea. I was concerned that the AGA 92gal corner would not allow for enough water turnover (their site states the corner overflows to be only rated at 400gph) Have you tested how much max flow you would be able to fit through your setup??
  21. What about adding one of those to the output of the skimmer? Would completely get rid any microbubbles, plus trap anything else that might want to escape. Although, if the Eheims live up to their reputation, nothing will escape anyways right? I used a filter sock for a while to get rid of my microbubbles. Now I have enough rock buildup in the sump to prevent them from getting into the main tank. P.S. thank goodness for Starbucks during finals week and WAMAS for "keep-me-sane" study breaks
  22. Sounds like an engineer goby. They constantly dig up the sand. Don't know if thats such a good thing since you want the bottom layer to stay anaerobic. They are cool as heell though. oh wait, its the same thing. Just looked it up: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...;articleid=2065
  23. I believe the Current units use one large reflector instead of individuals. Supposedly indidual reflectors inclreases the output close to 100%.
  24. We do support LFS, just not the stores who like to rip off their customers. Do some reading on the boards and you'll see that plenty of people support the QUALITY stores like BRK, F&F, Scales, and Aquarium One. -- content edited by emissary. Please, no name calling.
  25. Yeah boy. Looking good. What's the total height?
