  1. 2 X 4's and screws. I then used door hinges for connect to a 2x4 corners in the inside of the stand
  2. I just wanted to jump in and say I have a pair of Heni d's in my 180 and I love them. They are really nice looking (IMO) and a great addition. They have been model citizens (picking-wise) and are great eaters. John
  3. I have that exact setup with my 44 Gallon Brute, though I have a 1" bulkhead. Been in operation for a 1.5 years with no leaks.
  4. I would go with 3 250's rather than 2 400's ... would also highly suggest looking into Luminarcs. John
  5. I too have a 180 with 3@ 250MH's and have been looking at an upgrade. However I am going the route of luminarcs. They will do 2 things for me. 1) help me with heat with the AC units 2) Give me better coverage and light at depth without dumping the 250's. I would be concerned about the heat on the 400's, unless you have a chiller, then it is a non-issue. Regards, John
  6. I got ~200lbs of the $2.69 deal ... good rock, after 6-9 month you would never now the difference. John
  7. Best way to lower Alk is time and/or water change. Cool off you kalk a little and let things settle IMO
  8. I believe you need the bigger magnets .. the part number is 6200.50, they run about $50 each. I have a 180 and have both the 6200.50 and the smaller ones 6080.50. Not sure what my glass thickness is, but I assume with a 210 you may have thicker glass, hence my recommendation for the bigger one. Maybe Naga is lurking around and can weigh in on this. Good Luck, John
  9. Can get Miracle grow from Target, Walmart, KMart, etc. It does work fine for growing Phyto. Have used it with now problems.
  10. HD has a cheapo for $88. Anyone tried that model? Sorry did not mean to divert/hijack thread
  11. Yep they are Heniochus diphreutes also known as Poorman Idols. They have been very well behaved, no picking on anything and are really nice to watch. John
  12. Hi all, Here are my two newest additions to my 180. Got them on Monday night. They are schooling eating and doing well. Still very skiddish, but that should pass soon. Enjoy, John
  13. I have subscribed to Anthony Calfo's Journal and have really enjoyed it, very good read and informative. It only comes out quarterly and is pricey. But is 100% marine. Calfo Journal Can bring it to the tank tours if you would like to leaf through also. Regards, John Wildman
  14. I use garlic for my fish for the same reason and also for just general health. I use the Kent Garlic Extreme, which comes in liquid form. I personally would not use the garlic withthe Phosporic acid, as I don't know exactly what it is or what it will do to the fish or the sytem in general. Folks may reply and say they have problems with it. My 2 cents, John Wildman
  15. I third that .. no additive, water change and time. Especially if it is just a little. John
  16. I did go to the Doc after I had my reaction and they were concerned about breathing primarily, which was fine. One thing he said that stood out to me was that. In a Reef Tank there are thousands of proteins, allergens, toxins and items that could cause a reaction. I now use rubber gloves whenever possible when I am touching corals, critters and working in my tank. I am also very careful about touching my face (i.e. mouth, nose and eyes) when working with the tank. I now this all sounds like a mother nagging, but it is important to be safe and prudent when dealing with out tanks and the thousands possible things that may harm us or our families. ok .. off my soapbox Peace, John
  17. Here Here, this is one of the many reason John and the folks at BRK kick butt. They are great and will do anything within reason to help folks. John
  18. I have a royal gramma and 2 firefish and have never seen them even notice each other. I would strongly disagree with anyone who says they do not get along. John
  19. I have some battery powered airpumps and a generator you are welcome to borrow. Your priorities are water movement and heat at this point. PM me if you want some help. regards, John Wildman in Herndon
  20. I had a reaction to snails. I got a large order 200+ that had been sitting in their bags for 1.5 days. Handled them during acclimation and when putting them in tank. Went to bed that night with hives all over my trunk. Woke up with more hives, one eye swollen shut. Luckily nothing itched. Took Benadryl and slept it off. Would be careful with allergic reactions, they tend to get worse each time you have one. Also it has been my experience (am not an M.D.) that Benadryl is a great thing to have around for reactions. **My medical advice is worth what you paid for it*** John
  21. Sorry to say I can't make either date ... what a bummer :( John PS. Chris I will have a frag of that zoa we talked about in a couple of weeks.
  22. I have one also .. if you want. (not borrow) not extra John
