Yep. Here we go: This is the bottom part, staring down at it from the top.

Pieces that go from front to back, to give more support under the plywood. Lookin good there Alex!

Welp, we need people to buy some of this stuff too, so I guess I'll go first. Edit: Just realized that one tank sold, so I guess I'm actually second Chip, I'll take the mangroves for $20. I can get them from you next time I see you. As for the $20, JM how can I get that to whoever's collecting? ~Tim

Hey Howard, do you manually turn on your fan each day? If so, why not set it to the same timer as your MH's? That way when the lights are on, the fans are on?
-
Whats wrong with stirring up your sand a bit? Pending that you've not had the sandbed for years, that is...

How deep is that tank? You may want to consider 400 watters, but wait, you said FOWLR... so then lighting really isn't all that important (strength anyway, of course you'd still like to get a nice color - but that is more personal preference). I think it'd be a waste to put so much into lighting (then you'd also have to think about cooling options) if you don't intend to put in any corals. However, if you do intend to add corals, what you suggest sounds pretty decent as long as the tank isn't too deep (I'm not sure of the dimensions of a 260). Good luck, and nice aquascaping!

Will firefish school with purple firefish? I have a purple in my 55 now, but was wanting to get a few more when I transfer him to the 180 so he's no longer lonely. I was considering doing a mix of firefish and purple firefish, if they would all school together. If not, it will just be purples.

Hmm... I don't think the air intake would be the culprit... unless it frightened him and he stressed out. How long have you had this fish? What other fish/inverts do you have in the tank?
-
Were there any markings on the fish (like bite marks) ? Did you notice any signs of stress before today? (nipped fins, overly quick movement to hide, etc). When you say you began running air through your bakpak, what exactly do you mean?

I'm also interested in PBT prices. Johnnybv, are you offering discounts to wamas members on livestock and/or drygoods?
-
Alex, I was just wondering when you are planning on getting the 120. Once you have the stand completed and home, you'll be itching to get that tank and set it up, I bet! I have to second the 'fixes' that you're going to make to the stand. The weight really pushes down on the perimeter of the tank, and vertical supports directly underneath where the load is pushing is a good plan. Keep us updated!

Sorry for the loss JM! It's always sad to read posts like these. :bigcry:

There are also 2600's as well. They don't seem to be much more (if at all) than the 1500's (I've seen them for sale for 74, I got them NIB off ebay for 64 each, waiting for them to arrive.

A BB member is someone who signed up for the bulletin boards. A regular member is one who has paid their annual dues. There are alot of advantages for being a regular member: discounts at many pet stores (which will quickly add up to more than the dues, I passed the amount for dues on my first trip to a store that I got a discount!), as well as access to the members only boards, the selling and trading boards, etc.

I'll definitely keep everyone updated.

Sorry about the double post.

Chris, thanks for the review! I purchased 2 SEIO 2600's today for the 180. I decided that it wasn't worth trying to find something that would work both in the 55 and be as useful in the 180, so I am just getting them straight for the 180. I might do the maxijet mod in the meantime that was also posted on RC. I got them 64 each, and got a $10 discount since I bought both from the guy (I bought them off of ebay, labeled as NIB, I emailed the guy and spoke with him about them - make sure they were the US versions and not imports, that they were new, etc) By the time they arrive I should have water in the tank to be able to test them out

Hahaha! I don't mind cleaning my tank because I feel like I'm making my tank look better. I am getting something out of it - cleaning other peoples tanks... well thats a whole nother issue =p
-
Looks like its just the 820 they carry. I've commited to buying the 1500 or 2600 (most likely the 2600).

ah, so just www dot championlighting dot com... I should have done a search, I'm such a lazy bum :P well, the page started to load.. then it said connection refused, and now won't go. Guess I'll have to try again later. So, does anyone have any input about a 2600 being too much force in a 55?
-
I don't mind cleaning things. I actually find working on the tank to be relatively relaxing. $75 sounds like a good price to me, especially since you didn't have to spring for shipping, just tax. Does champion have a website?

I've seen Rik's tank. I was very very impressed to clarify, I'm not having trouble finding Seios in general; I can find the 620, 820, 1100, and 1500. I have a hard time finding anything about the 2600's. The few places I have found them, they are barely any more costly than the 1500's.. so If I was going to buy a 1500, I might as well buy the 2600, right? Also, would these pumps be too much force for my 55? Or will it be fine because of the dispersal? If I can find the 2600's, and they would work well for both the 55 gallon and the transfer to the 180, I would consider it a good investment (especially if that controller ever comes out). On the 180, I also plan to run a Sequence Dart to an OceansMotions 4way for the return.
-
Ok, its sounding like I shouldn't bother with the 620 if I plan to use it later on with the new tank. Is the 2600 released out here? I'm still doing searches to find a place I know more about that sells them.. Oh, as far as livestock - I plan on having more and more sps. I went through the typical phases, so I have xenia, I have shrooms, I have gsp.. I also have a couple hammers, digis, tenius, tort, milli, birds nest.

The current application would be in my 55 gallon tank. It will be months before my 180 is ready to move livestock over to (at least, thats what I'm figuring.. still have to figure out plumbing, buy a return pump, a skimmer, the pumps I choose, etc) Currrently I have a mag 5 as my return from the sump who's return is in the middle of the tank, on the back. The overflow for this is on the left side, but not completely left (really its more on the center of the left side, on the back wall). On the far left I have a maxijet 1200 thats pushing flow foward and towards the center (so slightly to the right). I have another powerhead that I was given, not really sure what it is exactly, but its positioned in the center and its output is going to the left (pointed at a rock that has my tenius, digi's, and a cap), I'll have to check what it is exactly, again, but its about on par with a mj 900 or 600 in terms of size and force. It's output is the same as a MJ in style. On the middle right side I have a HOB jebo skimmer. The pump is in the tank (of course) in the middle, and the return puts water out right above it but directed towards the front of the tank. Lastly, I have another MJ1200 on the right wall of the tank, pointed left. You can see the flow from it reaches past the middle of the tank, to the left side. I was planning on putting the SEIO where this last MJ pump is, and direct outflow basically the same way. Not sure what I'd do with the MJ1200, maybe relocate it to help get detrius out of the rockwork.
