  1. What's Bob's user name? Can't figure out which post you mean...
  2. Nope...this is going to be a VERY LOW MAINTENANCE tank. No T5s (no chiller)...only easy to take care of softies and fish. No big protein skimmer. Just a hang on the back filter that I got from Eve. And Eve reminded me that her beautiful softies tank was all PCs I already have all the bulbs I need but I will check out Bob's post for the reflectors. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hello, All After an extended "time off" (I have a good excuse....my son was born this past July ), I am now in the process of getting my 75 gallon tank back up and running. Here's the question. my husband is making a new hood and embedding lights for the 48
  4. As a new member, you might want to be a little circumspect about who you "trash" on these boards. DHOCH is a very active member and officer of WAMAS and has helped MANY of us with a variety of things. He devotes a tremendous amount of time to the club, its activities and it's members. Sometimes it's hard to keep committments you make, but there's really no reason for a post like this...
  5. Yes, I too have had my sump spontaneously spring a leak and dump 30 gallons of water on my kitchen hardwood floor. Fortunately, the basement is unfinished, so the water drained and sat on concrete. But that tank is gone and I will never have a tank with a sump on an upstairs floor again...
  6. Looks great, Dave. congrats!
  7. I'm no expert, but when we upgraded from a 75 to a 120 on our first floor, my husband (engineer) figured out the approximate weight and was concerned and decided to put an extra beam as support in the ceiling of the basement.... Of course, our basement is unfinished, so it was relatively easy to do. What's underneath the space where the tank will go?
  8. Hmm. I might be interested...I live right near Eve. But we're going away soon and I'm hesitant to buy anything right now... I'd like to look around, though.. How long a drive is it?
  9. Yes, I got a kit like this on ebay, too. Not sure if it's the same seller or not, but it looks very similar...and had some initial problems setting it up. Didn't come with enough acrylic glue...or I was too inept...and had to go out and get more. And also the thicker stuff. And mine is a bit thin...and prone to cracking the seams if it's fiddled with too much...In hind sight, I wish I had paid a bit more for a sturdier sump...
  10. bristle worm? common and harmless. Many would say beneficial as a sand sifter and detritus eater..
  11. Have no idea about that company. But I have done this myself...The vast majority of my rocks I collected on the beaches in the Bahamas and Hawaii...I bought several small pieces of live rock to seed these...probably 5 years ago...and you'd never know at this point. Much cheaper...
  12. John, I met you briefly when I was at Rik's house actually...I came with Eve who was looking for some frags. Not long before MACNA. I had picked you out by your name tag at one of the previous WAMAS meetings..but I admit I have been too shy to really introduce myself. I still consider myself pretty much of a beginner. And I am so much in awe of your experience and your beautiful tanks.. I don't know for sure if I'll be coming to the meeting tomorrow. Things are so busy right now.. But I know that there's SO MUCH I could learn from you...I may pick your brain at some point..
  13. BOTH of you have gorgeous tanks!! John, yours was one of the very first tanks I saw featured on RC and when I saw that you were local I was so excited!! I sent you an e-mail ( you must have received tons!!) and you very kindly responded and directed me to WAMAS.. I've learned so much from joining the club. And your pics are great!! Thanks so much for sharing..
  14. Paul, I would love some blue hairy mushroom... Would you take a frag of pink and green frogspawn? Or cash? That's all that I have to trade...
  15. Remind me of the date of the zoo social...it got changed a few times and I lost track...
  16. yup. I'll be there by noon thanks again!!
  17. where do we stand on this order? Any progress?
  18. I'll take 2, please. Shall I send you a check in advance or pay when the shipment comes in?
  19. I might be interested in the sailfin tang
  20. Go to Bed Bath and Beyond and get a roll of non-adhesive drawer/shelf liner. Comes in a few different kinds...works great. You can cut it to any size you like... Don't see how a mousepad could be harmfull....but I'm really happy with the liner I put in my cabinet--under my sump and all of my pumps, etc...
  21. Dave, I've been seriously considering upgrading to the T5s since I saw them at your house...Can you tell me (and other people who want to know) what brand you have or other particulars that might be relevant? And what kind of reflectors you have? How often do you change bulbs, etc? Thanks!!
  22. Rocko-- I like #2 #4 #6 #7 and #8 If there are pieces of some/any of these, that would be fantastic!!!
