  1. DIY Sump - Currently going through the phase of a leak test for a week. I'm confident that it'll hold but just in case...

  3. Back panel of the sump is fusing tonight. Top panel will receive the same treatment tomorrow !
  4. It's a decent update, including master and slave improvements.
  5. GHL recently added a feature to the Mitras Lx7 called Photo/video mode, which increases the PWM frequency to eliminate banding when taking photos and videos. However, yet to have experienced banding with my Nikon D800.
  6. You got it?! Sump is roughly 80% complete. I was quite generous with applying the solvent at a few joints, which caused the solvent to bleed out but I got the hang of it now. Given the time it takes for acrylic to fuse together securely. I'm thinking it'll be appropriate to do a leak test by Friday. I have a Sicce Syncra 2.0 that I'll utilize to simulate current throughout the sump for a few days. Plumbing the return line/manifold is up next !
  7. I'm about a month behind schedule with getting my system to a point to where it's cycling, however. That fulfillment is approaching and my Real Reef rock order to Dr. Mac's is imminent. I've done business with his company throughout the years and I trust that I'll continue to enjoy the welcoming experience.
  8. Sure thing! And regarding the MSRP of $534.00. I think it's worth comparing it to a DIY reactor that can be made for under $100 or even the new Skims Macroalgae reactor. It's built like a tank with high quality components - Work of Art!

  12. I kind of feel the same way after becoming aware of Pure Reef, Grainger is where i shop to acquire +GF+ piping. They have a branch not too far from where I work.
  13. Indeed Strange that you are not able to see my photo !? Nothing special but +GF+ plumbing valves, pipe and fittings inside of my frag tank. Constructing a system is one of my favorite parts of this hobby ! Nice! I'll have to contact them regarding availability or contacts to drop-ship from Florida ? Have you seen their new roller mat Dream Box? I'm curious about the idea of it but i dunno...
  14. Plumbing for my frag system has arrived, but i am waiting for my Royal Exclusiv Red Dragon 3 to arrive and to be plumbed in as my return pump. Which of course will be controlled by my ProfiLux 3.1t controller. I plan to have a fairly large sump for the purpose of increasing the water volume of the system and a area to Beta test /review upcoming products.
  15. Sump photos.. I'm working on this project just about every night and i must say, not bad for my first DIY sump My solvents and applicators arrived from Avast Marine this past week. I can't wait... !!! Outlet(Drain) and Inlet(Fill) lines for Automatic Water Changes A Tunze comline 0.900 water pump may be used as my drain pump if i decide not to use my GHL Doser 2.1. 1/4" Spears PVC is used here.

  17. Constructing my sump is coming along.. Since i have a total of eight(8) level inputs on my ProfiLux 4. I have decided to utilize a float sensor within my mechanical chamber - Filter Sock- to trigger an alarm (as a reminder) whenever my filter socks become clogged, which would cause the water level to rise.
  18. Talkin' inhabitants.. I'll have to contact Artfully Acrylic concerning my interest in having a custom ClearView Lid built to house a pair of Golden Dwarf Moray Eels (Gymnothorax melatremus).
  19. I forgot to mention that GHL has an expansion card(PLM-ADIN) that has two analog inputs that measures 0-10V. These two inputs will appear as sensors within the system to allow control for various actions, however. One would need to do their own parameter conversion outside of the system level. I'll be utilizing the four other connections for digital inputs.. One being a Avast Marine Barrel Tender v2.
  20. That sounds like a neat project for a calcium reactor. Is there a link for me to check it out? I'm debating on how I'm going to setup my calcium reactor for my frag system. Calcium and Alkalinity electrodes are a welcoming feature for aquarium controllers this year, but at what cost !? Lol
  21. Correct, that is exactly right. Once you have the flow sensor installed and current is being measured, say the actual flow rate is measuring at 1000 l/h, then my desired flow rate of 900 l/h is assigned. Next - I'll select a 0-10v interface channel(DC Pump) and set the output to "Constant flow". (My DC return pump will keep my desired flow rate whenever I make changes to my feed valves. The profiLux will increas or decreas the 10v signal voltage to my return pump)... Hit Save and that's it! Or I can setup an alarm for when the flow rate drops below my desired flow rate and much more. Oh man! Not with a ProfiLux. Outside of the basic functions. There is a expert mode "Program Logic" that opens up a lot more for the user Here are a few. NOT-Function The NOT-function needs exactly one input. The output behaves always inversely to the input. AND-Function The AND-function needs 2 inputs. The output is only ON if both inputs are ON. OR-Function The OR-function needs 2 inputs. The output is only ON if at least one input is ON. NAND-Function The NAND-function needs 2 inputs.The output is only OFF if both inputs are ON. NOR-Function The NOR-function needs 2 inputs. The output is only ON if both inputs are OFF. Equal-Function The EQUAL-function needs 2 inputs. The output is then ON if both inputs have the same state. Unequal-Function The UNEQUAL-function needs 2 inputs. The output is then ON if both inputs have a different state. Time functions Besides the simple logical functions explained before, ProfiLux offers also time functions. All time functions have only one input. The output is switched dependently on the input state, the time function and the set time. Times between 1s and 28800s (= 8h) can be set. Pulse-Function If the input changes from OFF to ON, the output is switched on. After the set time has expired (here in the example 12s), the output is switched off again, independent from the state of the input. Delayed-On-Function During switch-on, the output follows the input with the set delay time (here in the example 9s), during switch-off of the input, the output follows immediately. Delayed-Off-Function The output follows the input immediately during switch-on, when the input is switched off, the output follows with the set delay time. Cyclic-Function As long as the input is switched on, the output switches alternately ON and OFF, the switching duration is determined by the set time (here in the example 3s). If the input is OFF, then also the output is OFF. SR-Flipflop This is a special function. The specialty is that the recent output state persists as long as both inputs are OFF. The output is switched ON if the Set-input is ON. Also if the Set-input is again OFF shortly afterwards, the output remains ON and that until the Reset-Input is ON, then the output is OFF again.

  23. Prospective I managed to cut the outer structure of my sump at my father's house today ! The pieces to form a degassing and mechanical chamber will be done in-house. When planning the size of my sump came about. I had interest in just having volume to house equipment like heaters, filter sock, return pump, optical level sensors(x2) and enough volume to exchange four(4) gallons of saltwater for AWC. So given the size of this is fairly small. I decided to add a GHL Measurement Cell to house my electrodes, which looks freakin' cool ! Tidbit: Regarding the GHL Flow Sensor. I have one to measure the flow returning to my display tank, but there is one feature in particular that caught my interest. Since i have a DC controllable pump as my return pump and assigned programming. I can adjust the flow coming from my manifold valves, or shut them off completely, within seconds the return pump will compensate up/down to adjust the flow to my assigned 'Fixed/Constant' flow rate. -GHL Flow Sensors came to market in 2012 and there is no expansion card, nor expansion box required. One just needs an unoccupied level port that are located on the back of the controller.
