  1. Is there any reason i cant quarantine a goby/shrimp pair with a bristletooth tang?
  2. Awesome i was just about to ask for a link for how to set this up
  3. I mean dont get me wrong they move water just not quite in the way i want. Flow is very directional and there are still dead spots. Also am having to send one in for repairs, only had it for 2 months. The other ive had for a year and a half with no issues. Point is i got 2 plus the unit that lets you control them from your phone for around $180. For another $90 you can have the riptide. Im just curious to quality as i have seen some threads elsewhere that say it isnt good
  4. Hoe long have you had it? Any issues in that time?
  5. I am currently running 2 Jebao Rw-8 on my 90 gallon mixed reef but dont really feel like i am getting as much flow as i want and definitely still have deadspots. I am looking at one of the riptide units but have a few concerns and questions. 1.) I have very fine sand that is easily moved. When watching videos it looks like this thing will move the sand bed quite a bit. Is this gonna be an issue? How could i fix it if so? 2.) Should the unit be mounted on one of the sides or on the back glass? 3.) What size unit would you recommend for a 90 gallon, the 130 or 150? Any other comments or experiences are welcome. TIA
  6. Im referring to the newer model, pro line. I have a few issues, one being that the writing on the syringes comes off really easy. I have only had my kit for 3-4 months and i am now guessing where the lines are. This goes for both the 10ml and i ml syringes. Another issue is that over this time the 1ml syringes have become very "sticky", what i mean is the are not as smooth when pushing on the plunger and it is almost impossible to get single drops. It ends up being a few drops at a time. My last issue is the Magnesium test, Maybe i am a bit colorblind but i find it difficult to tell when the color turns from purple to blue, i have even more trouble with the end color of the Alk test. Is it when it is the exact color on the card or when it goes from clear(goes from blue to almost clear) to a really light shade of orange
  7. Can you expand on your last statement, just curious to your logic here.
  8. I have not been impressed with red sea. Im going to try salifert next
  9. So it looks like this may be a Y-Bar goby,Cryptocentrus fasciatus. Below os a better picture. Definitely paired with the shrimp and they were sharing the same burrow at the lfs
  10. It is paired with a pistol shrimo at the LFS but they dont know what it is? Sorry for the picture quality.
  11. So what are some other types of fish that i can consider that wont eat pods. i currently have 2 clowns and a sunburst anthias. I plan to add the 2 mandarins and a Squaretail Bristletooth Tang when i can find one. So what else could i add, I am assuming Dottybacks will also decimate the pods?
  12. Yea this is what im thinking, thanks for the reply. Might just go with a McCoskers wrasse or something
  13. I have a 90 gallon, it is packed with pods but im already worried about the mandarin pair so much that i have begun cultivating pods, actually thinking about expanding it to a bigger operation and selling them. But even with that i dont feel safe adding a 3rd pod hunter.
  14. So I have been thinking of getting a Potters Wrasse and the LFS just got one in today. It is pretty big, 3.5-4', they siad it is the largest one they have gotten in. So i have a few concerns that i will list below. 1.) what makes these fish so difficult to keep? Since it is larger than most do you think it will help with the chances of success? 2.) I just realized these eat pods. Will they decimate a pod population like a madarin would. I am on the waiting list for a mandarin pair with @monkiboy and do not want to add something that will completely wipe out their food source. Any other tips or experiences are welcome. Thanks
  15. I have the same issue randomly. mine wil look fine and then an hour later be completely retracted for no reason. I have just let it go at this point. Mine is growing new heads all of the time but it isnt getting any taller. It is almost overcrowded it has soo many new heads
  16. So you take tsome aquarium water out and heat it up and pour it back in?
  17. Question about the Power Inverters.. So if i hook this up to my car it will deliver the wattage it is rated for so do some of these units have to be connected directly to the battery? Also the car has to remain on so that the alternator re-charches the battery, correct? Is there a good brand that is reasonably priced?
  18. I ordered a 1500 watt generator for delivery tomorrow. Figured i just needed something to run a few heaters and a wavemaker in my 90 gallon. Probably wont need it but id rather have it and not worry
  19. Looks like we are going to get crushed
  20. Can they recover or si what is white dead?
  21. Flow could be better, i am adding another wavemaker tonight. But the purple monti has been in the tank for over 2 months and has been thriving. I looked at it this morning and it is fading fast
  22. Could this be caused by too much or too little light?
  23. Honestly no. I only feed coral frenzy and dont do it regularly. My understandibg was that it was a boost for SPS but that they lived primarily on light and Ca, Kh snd Mg.
  24. No carbon or resins. I do feed but not often and didnt do so before the vacation
