  1. So I don't have a sump for my 75 and my ato is from a bucket to the tank. It's more than 30 inches so the TOM aqua lifter pump just isn't strong enough. It'll work fine for a few days and then just stop. My question this time is what pump is strong enough for my setup? Thanks!
  2. I tried that first and now I have the pump closer to the tank and it puts much more water back in. Let's see when I get home
  3. Hello WAMAS, As I learn new things from you guys everyday I have some questions. I unfortunately don't use a sump for my 75g but water clarity and parameters have never been an issue. I am still using tap water as my RODI is giving me issues. I got the 150gpd upgrade from BRC and connecting everything up. Once started, the output of the new membrane was giving a hissing type of noise. Is this normal for it to do this? Once I get this all set up what is the best way to make water? I have it currently up in the 3rd floor of my townhouse in the laundry room faucet. I could move it to the garage (have a outdoor faucet inside the garage) but was thinking the water might get too warm. The tank is located on the middle level. What I was going to do is just make the water Sunday (about 15 gallons) and just do the water change like that. Second question I have is that I use the JBJ ATO which works fine for a few days and then the flow gets slow and won't fill up the tank in time. So I have it set up with a 5 gallon bucket underneath the tank with the TOM lift pump connected to it. There's maybe about 30 inches of tubing from the bucket to the pump and about 8 inches to the tank itself. I found this is the best route to have the water flow nicely into the tank. Now does the water flow slow down because the tap water gets all slimy in the bucket? Am I supposed to have a power head in the bucket? Thanks for reading all of this if you did read it lol
  4. Such a cool layout lol cerith snails? What's the chances of them actually living?
  5. Oh trust me I only go to look. I just stand there and stare lol. I don't get much of a lunch so that's the closest spot I can go to just kill some time. they should just stop carrying saltwater fish and go all freshwater like petsmart
  6. Has anyone had any good experiences with Petco? The one in Burke VA has some decent fish at times and I thought they knew their stuff but lately I have seen a few fish dead, bubble algae growing. I work right down the street and always go by during lunch to look at what they have. It saddens me that I sometimes see these beautiful fish laying on the sand dead.
  7. Lol they're close to the water. About 8 inches above the water. 25% whites and 50% blues
  8. it is doing well. Growing pretty quickly. I'll see if I can find a picture of it when I got it 3 months ago
  9. So I have a 75 gallon set up right now. 8 months in. Purple coralline growing everywhere. I have a yellow tang, two ocellaris clowns, 2 damsels, and a strawberry dottyback. most of my corals are green I need some color in the tank. want to add some fish. what do you guys recommend? thanks!
  10. its a 75 gallon with two ever grows. tank is 8 months old. going to get some snails from cville aquarium to help clean it up it def is a vermetid snail! biggest one I've seen yet! annoying little suckers
  11. The spiroid looking thingy had this white string coming out of it had to snap it off the coral spine. There were only two of the bubble algae which I removed. The montipora. Should I leave it on the sand or move it up on a rock? It's almost covering the whole rock it's on. What can I get to take care of the diatom? Thanks!
  12. Oh and what coral is that? Lol montipora?
  13. One I'm guessing is bubble algae. the other two I dont Know what exactly they are. The algae on the sand looks different than what I've seen before. When I moved it, it was all mushy and clumping up. The snail looking thing was attached to my candy cane coral stem.
  14. Thanks everyone for the comments. Right now I have the 3 part filter going to the first membrane which I found out is 75gpd And then that goes to the DI resin. So I would get another 75gpd plus the kit and connect that so the flow goes first membrane to 2nd membrane to DI? right? Once this is done I would need a 150gpd flow restrictor? And that connects to the waste water line? Thanks again everyone
  15. Thanks everyone. I had a flow restrictor built in but it was clogged up so I bought a quick connect flow restrictor http://www.amazon.com/GPD-Flow-Restrictor-Quick-Connect/dp/B004BB9APK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427203478&sr=8-2&keywords=flow+restrictor So best thing for me to do is get another 50gpd membrane and connect that to the other making it 100gpd. or since connecting it to the waste water isn't recommended then maybe just sell my 50gpd one and get just one 100gpd?
  16. Quick easy question. Is the membrane the part of the system that determines the gpd? I currently have just a 50gpd on mine. All I would have to do is get a 150gpd membrane to speed up the process right? And 2nd question is, how do you guy minimize the waste water? Can you connect a 2nd membrane that connects to the first membrane dirty water output? TIA!
  17. Has anyone shopped there before? Prices are pretty decent.
  18. Sending you a pm
  19. glad you're awake this late. Thanks for the advice. will give it a shot before I get in bed lol
  20. This is the flow restrictor tube. It's really tiny. Can't even stick a needle in it
  21. How would I clean the one in the pic?
