  1. Hi! I just got a RODI system used from a friend of mine last night and have a few questions. The system is a Spectrapure CSDI-AF 90gpd and it comes with the automatic flush kit. Do I plug in the flush kit all the time or only when I want to flush it? Also what Am I supposed to do when its time to flush besides plug it in and for how long ? The unit comes with the 3 line TDS meter and when making water last night I can only get the RO water at 4 and DL water at 0, this is after changing out all new filters and membrane, was I supposed to have it flushed for a while first before start making water to use for the tank ? Thanks in advance!
  2. I was never into clowns much, but when I saw the black storms I really liked them because they remind me of Panda bears.. lol, I didn't think they worth the $200 a piece price tag so I didn't buy them at first. Came home a few weeks ago and my gf surprised me with them so I guess I'll keep them lol. BTW I dont know how u guys take such good fish pictures, took me like 15 tries to get that pic.
  3. My pair of Black Storm that I got about a month ago.
  4. Yes Tom ! Thank you so much for your input on this matter.
  5. I would post pictures of the valve but I just now seeing this. After installing the new system and running around getting replacement membranes for it, I threw the Mighty Mites in the trash because it was also leaking water every time I turn it on. I saved a few elbows and clips for future usage.
  6. Thank you, I have a hand held one as well as an in-line TDS meter for my RODI.
  7. Thank you Tom! Picked my friend's RODI system this morning and everything is good, TDS is at zero at the moment, this one doesn't have the flush valve. I think its a 4stage Omnipure system. Its making water 2 times slower than the one I have before. With the old one it was supposed to be 50gpd but I was making 5g at about 45 minutes so that should have been the red flag right then and there. This one is making it at a 5g every 2 hrs and its a higher output system.
  8. Yea man, its a little blue valve, its the only valve on the system. Bryospis is prolly the hardest algae to get rid off, I've been scrubbing the rocks in peroxide and saltwater mix and it seems to controlled it but theres always new spots. I'll let you know if its gone for good in a couple weeks since I just scrubbed it a couple days ago.
  9. So...After talking to my reefing buddy BK_Market for a while, we came to realized that the flush valve was "Open" for the last 2-3 years or so, he said basically I was reefing with tap water the whole time. I didn't know that it was supposed to be closed all the time. I think this explains my Bryospis and GHA problem that I've been dealing with for years. I feel so stupid and careless but I'm excited that better reefing days are ahead.
  10. So... My friend is out of the hobby and giving me his full-size RODI system, I think it will be much better than what I have. Went to test the Mighty Mite earlier and according to the inline TDS meter the "Out" water was at 59 and the "In" water was at around 40 and slowly declining...Very slowly...around 1 point per minute. There's a chance that I may installed the filter cartridges the wrong way, I'm not 100% sure because what I did was looking at stock photos of the unit and based on that for the installation. But then, If I did it wrong how come the TDS always at zero on the first 100g or so? Thanks
  11. Hey guys ! So I've been using the Mighty mite RODI (50gpd) system for my reef tank for the last few years and it seems that I can only get 0 TDS in the first 100g of water or so, after that the TDS starts to go up and I've been changing the all the filters every couple months or so, Is this normal? I've been thinking about getting a new RODI system and im wonder on a regular system, how many gallons of clean water can you get before you have to change out the filtering cartridges as the TDS starts to rise. Thanks
  12. I tried peroxide before but maybe I didn't use enough or dipping it long enough because I was afraid to cause too much harm. I think I will do it again with more peroxide this time before resorting to Fluconazole. Thanks a bunch !
  13. I do not have any algae control fish because the 2 nanos (Nuvo 10, Nuvo 20) are the ones with big GHA problem, my big tank has a couple tangs in it so only Bryospis problem in that one lol. I think its from bad dry rock, I didn't soak it good enough before aquascaping, just rinsed. I will look in to fluconazole. Thanks guys!
  14. Hi Zac ! Im in Silver Spring also, Tropical Lagoon is great in selections and prices, it's my favorite LFS, whatever Steve doesn't have he can order for you and they get new saltwater stuff in every Weds so I'm always there on Weds or Thurs. If you want some GSP for your tank lemme know, I'm the master at growing GSP lol.
  15. How long have you been running it and what you think of it? Thanks
  16. I would like your feedback please, and how long did it takes before you start seeing improvement. I am having crazy GHA and Bryospis problem and would like to get it solved. Thanks in advance.
  17. Wow ! You are amazing ! I've been doing pretty much the same thing but in reverse order
  18. I got u, everything is pretty common stuff but colorful. I dont even remember their names lol
  19. Hey guys, here are couple pics of my Nuvo 10, zoa dominated tank, hopefully they will take off and cover the whole rock structure.
  20. Thank you Tom!!! Didn't know you're a football fan too. Can't wait till this Sunday.
