  1. Thanks. Yea I found him with a sign "will work for candy" lol
  2. Recently began working on my 90g, so decided to start up a build thread. This will be a process... so enjoy the ride. I invite and appreciate any feedback. First the concept... I want to create a peninsula style stand with a small storage attached to it. I am going to put my son's 20g long on top of the storage and tie it into my system. The back of the stand will house a 10g tank for top-off and a 20g high for mixing saltwater for water changes. I had a good starting point for the main stand. However I decided to rip off the partially covered back and reinforce it with an extra leg (middle-back of the stand). Also reinforced the front of the stand opening which will remain w/o a center post. The back part of the stand, canopy, and 20g stand/storage are add-ons. My concern was that main stand will sink into the carpet and put pressure on the back add on. To combat this, I added a 1/2" plywood bottom. I got tired of spending so much time to make straight cuts so I bought this bad boy! Man i love it and it saves a ton of time. Also recruited some help Attached back framing to the main stand. It sits on the shared 1/2" plywood bottom.

  9. I've had a large one for a couple years and really like it. It was fine with a couple clowns and a lytrail anthia that were all under 2" at some point. It is in my 40g breeder now, but had him initially in a 29g with the 2 clowns and a 2" yellow watchman goby. It only tries to scare fish away when some food is dropping towards it and a fish is trying to eat the food before it falls to the bottom. It cleans the tank very well for me. It always finds the pellet foods when they fall to the bottom. Mine will actually eat out of my hand. Never seen it eat my snails (unlike my hermits). I haven't added any other shrimps since I read they will go after them.
  10. I haven't looked at the RW series yet. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone using this version?
  11. Looks nice in the pics. With bare bottom do you have issues with rocks sliding? I sucked most of the sand out of my 40g, but my smaller rocks tend to slide on the glass bottom. Might have to come over before I do my 90g upgrade to see it in person. Might have to steal that idea from you.
  12. What do you have for substrate? Looks like bare bottom, but not just the glass.
  13. Are those DC pumps from Jebao? How long have you had them and how well do they work. Noisy? I'm considering reliability + longevity. Thanks for the tip. I actually got a sump as a packaged deal with my tank. It is an adhi model 45 refugium w/light (http://www.adhi-usa.com/catalog/item/3399868/2980206.htm). It has a pretty good sized skimmer section ( 12"l x 15.5"w x 12"d). Here's a couple things I have come across as well: Return pumps: ------------------------------------ Jebao DC Return Pump 9000 Max Flow 2377 GPH (9000 LPH) Max Head 14.1 ft EHEIM Compact+ Pump 5000 Output: 660-1321 GPH Head Height: 9.8 ft others? Skimmers: ------------------------------------ Avast CS1 Skimmer + PSK1000 pump (diy combo kit) Reef Octopus Classic 200INT 8" skimmer others? Power heads / wave makers -------------------------------------- 2x Jebao WP-40s with the twins linkage controller to synchronize them. others?
  14. Yes I have the tank, stand, and sump. I have 1 it2080 and will either add a it2040 or buy 2x it2060 and sell the it2080. For return pumps looking at internal due to the room in the stand with sump.
  15. Doing homework on equipment for a standard sized 90g tank build I will be working on. The tank will have 30g worth of water in the sump and will tie in my son's 20g tank. I am interested in hearing recommendations/experience for the following: 1) return pump 2) power heads/wave makers 3) skimmer I appreciate your help. Eric
  16. You can just use the existing shutoff valve. Make sure and check the water pressure to make sure it is within the tank's specs. Too much pressure can burst the air bladder in the tank. Use a pressure reducing valve (e.g. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/watts-pressure-reducing-valve.html) if too high.
  17. What is the reliability on these pumps? How long have you been running it? Any idea what the step size is in gph for each of the 6 settings?
  18. Picture/video would be helpful to see what exactly is going on. I used to have that skimmer but it's been a while. I remember the rubber ring around the cup needed to seal and there was a set screw holding the cup in place.
  19. Did you try raising the collection cup? Is the skimmer level? It shouldn't matter that the tank is bigger. Is it pulling anything out of the water that is causing it to want to overflow? For example did you dose something?
  20. It's definitely been tough and I'm only dealing with it in a 40g. Let us know how the bacteria goes. My fish never eat when I do a lights out so I don't even try. They will be OK. Besides it's good to limit food for the dinos during a lights out.
  21. I've looked up the use of h2o2 and some people have success and others claim not to. I came across a few posts that said no affects using old h2o2 but saw progress with a new bottle. I just bought a new bottle and will start dosing on Friday so I have a long weekend to monitor the tank.
  22. Thanks for the advice so far. I would like to get this fixed asap, then push towards an upgrade. I don't want to start over with regards to my current livestock.
