  1. Thank you! Haha...now that you mention it, I do see the cookie monster look to it. The flow is not to bad, but not great either. It has a small adjustable return pump and that is all at the moment. Light is a blue/white led combo. Thank you for the recommendation on fish. We were actually looking at some gobies earlier and really like the green clown gobies.
  2. I picked up a 5g Marineland Contour AIO from QR a few months back for a different build that didn't work out. My 5 yr old has always shown interest in new fish that are in quarantine for my 75, but once they go in there he wants nothing to do with it, he wants his own. He's been asking if he can have this tank since i set it up, so after letting him help out with a few small things on the 75 on a regular basis, he has decided he's ready to give it a try. I drained the tank and got rid of the little bit of sand I had in it. Took some sand and rock out of the 75 and started from there. Also added 3 gallons from the 75 and 2 gallons of new saltwater. My boy wanted to help with the rock structure. As I was getting the rock layed out and ready to piece together, I asked him to come help, after no response I look over and this is what I see.. HAHA...Don't ask. So, surprisingly I was able to get my wife to help out with it a little bit and this is what we came up with.... It took me a bit to get used to it but I think I'm really liking it now. I wanted to have some height to the rock to be able to put something small up higher if needed. The rubble on the bottom will come out to free up as much space as possible. I had a silver gorgonian and some red macro algae in the tank from before so I put it back in there now until I get it all figured out. He's going to pick out a couple zoas from the 75 to put in there, and he wants 1 or 2 small fish. Here's the "finished" product as of now. I'm hoping to be able to keep his interest now that he has his own tank. Comments and criticism are greatly appreciated as this is my first attempt at such a small reef. Thanks for looking.
  3. Very nice man! I need two of them!
  4. Any luck setting up your schedules?
  5. Looks amazing! I can look at this tank all day!
  6. I have a small acro colony that I've had for several months now that has one on it and I haven't had any issues with it.
  7. When you go into ecosmart live, go to vortech and click schedule. It should say what device it's on then below that it will have the schedule settings. Click on each one and it will open up the edit options. From there you can change your modes and set the slave options.
  8. AquaticLog has several radion profiles you can use. Not sure if there's much for the vortechs yet since the scheduling options is pretty new. I've been playing around with the vortech schedule the last few days and am finally getting close to a good schedule.
  9. I finally finished reading through this build and I must say this is very impressive. Your patience and commitment is amazing! So much inspiration in this build. Very nice sir!
  10. Thank you. Things are finally starting to color back up after fighting high phosphates for the longest time.
  11. A few pictures that are worth sharing to give an idea of how the tank is stocked. I need to invest in a decent camera soon. Cell phone cameras do no justice for these, but decent pictures are better than none. Will try to get some more pictures up soon. I have a few more from the tank build I need to add also.
  12. ThanI you. I haven't had any problems with the betta that I can say for sure was him. I had a few peppermint shrimp disappear but I honestly don't think he was responsible. I put a couple really small feeder fish in not long ago and he had no interest in them at all.
  13. Thank you! It took a while but I'm at the point now where I'm noticing new growth fairly regularly.
  14. Thank you! I'm still trying to figure that part out. The camera I have takes worse pics than the phone. I have a few decent ones I'll post up later, and I'll try to figure out how to get some better ones as well. I have a few more build pics I need to add to.
  15. Thank you! I figured out right away that not doing research only leads to disappointment. I learned a few lessons the hard way, but since joining here I have learned that without patience and research I won't get very far.
  16. I joined WAMAS about 7 months ago and i think it's finally time for a build thread. I started with a 56g corner tank that I got from a friend back in August 2013. After buying all the equipment and live rock, and setting it all up, it was taken down after one week and replaced with a 75g reef ready. I knew basically nothing about saltwater tanks when i started the 56g. After getting it all set up I quickly realized that the corner style was not going to do it for me. I then got the 75g and all the equipment to go with it. While trying to find more live rock to fill the 75g I ended up at Quantum Reefs and the rest is history. Picture taken a few months after cycling was complete. After getting to know Steve and Vince and figuring out what my plans were, I started replacing all of my original equipment. Current Equipment 75g Marineland Corner-flo 2 Gen2 Radions 2 Ecotech MP40 Aqua Ultraviolet 25 Watt UV Eshopps skimmer RLSS R6-I Eheim 1262 return pump Trigger systems ruby 36 sump BRS 75GPD 5 stage RO/DI Apex Controller Reeflink Current Livestock Marine Betta Purple Tang Hippo Tang Christmas Wrasse 2 clowns BTA Maxima Clam Skunk Cleaner Shrimp Various snails Corals Rastas Armor of God palys Watermelon zoas IC Razor Zoas Grandis Palys Tequila sunrise zoas Utter chaos zoas SPS ORA Strawberry shortcake acro Joe the coral Cali blue tort Purple Bonsai Purple tort Golden Dragon acro Ice Fire Echinata Darth Maul Porites Purple Nurple monti Orange monti cap Several other LPS coral. The acro addiction is starting to kick in now so I am planning to slowly start the switch to an SPS dominant reef. I also have around 70lbs live rock and around 100lbs live sand. FTS taken a couple of weeks ago The wealth of knowledge that is available through WAMAS is unbelievable so.....any and all feedback/advice is welcomed and appreciated.
  17. Has anyone updated EcoSmart live and set a schedule for the VorTechs yet? I've been messing with it for a little while and so far so good! Just have to fine tune it all now.
  18. I picked them up from QR. Can't remember the price but I think 20 tiles for $10 or so.
  19. I'm kinda starting to like the small frag tiles for zoas and such. They seem to work well for anything on the sand bed..
  20. I've been using the neptune crossover diet for a while now. Fish and coral both love it.
  21. Wow. Very impressive. Easily makes it to the top of my favorite tanks list!
