  1. ill have to look into laurel glass, the home depot I went to only had 3/32"which i know is too thin
  2. Okay so this weekend I want to get the sump for my 75gal rebuild done. There is literally too much info on sump design and baffles etc(most of it is conflicting. First do I go glass or acrylic baffles in a glass sump? Another WAMAS member pointed me towards glass. Second what glass thickness should I go with? Lastly I can cut the glass myself, but Home Depot and Lowes, at least near me, don't have a great selection of thickness, any one have somewhere they recommend? Most DIY builds I've seen, people are using 1/4 inch thick. Thanks for the advice guys and gals!
  3. I tried getting my gf not to go tanning and save the money. It was a no go! Lol
  4. That also means U could get a tan from your LEDs eventually!
  5. Like I said "basically" lol. Fluorescence is another aspect of light. Blue green and red are the primary colors of light. White LEDs give off all three. When something fluoresces or "pops" it is reflecting UV light. Which is not on the visible light spectrum. All lights give off some uv radiation. It is more complicated than I made it out to be at first but I started off with the elementary school explanation of light and color.
  6. +1 to almost all of the above......being a science teacher basically the way our eyes see color is the object reflects that color of light wave back to our eyes. Something is causing the coral to reflect more red than blue and green to your eyes hence it looks brown. I think your lights aren't the issues per say but something is causing the coral to discolor. What are your params? Start with water quality and go from there.
  7. lmao! I'm sure my clown thinks my hands a nem
  8. If you guys plan this right you might be able to get everyone willing to chip in to rent a limo or bus for an evening. Even if that too much you could do a DD and rent a van. Just an idea
  9. Perfect outlook +1 When i first got in I created a flood cleaning up a flood......i know talented
  10. You tube has a ton of videos on ways to check to see if you glass is tempered or not! Will check this evening!
  11. I googled the logo lol. Ill do more research tomorrow while I'm "busy" at work
  12. Yea it is unfortunately I was going to drill the back pane it was made in 95 and marineland 75s from 95 aren't tempered on the back however I'm guessing its marineland. But since we are on that topic anyone know what brand uses an anchor as a logo?
  13. I could do that something BB with cheato I wanted to have somewhere for pods. I see a lot if designs online with the skimmer in the first section with the inputs from the over flows
  14. Im drawing out the 20L as a sump was planning on three areas, Input/Skimmer, fuge, return
  15. Good call wonder if i would be able to set up the Acrylic sump to be split and use as a dual ATO on half going to the 75 and the other going to my 30?
  16. If you ordered online they might have your invoice on file never hurts to try
  17. Probably a dumb question on my part but have you contacted coral compulsion to see if they would replace it? I'm just looking at the arms on their website and can see how they might be tricky on a rimmed tank but that shouldn't have yanked the wire out enough to short IMHO.
  18. 75 is clean and waiting to be drilled. I have a 20L laying around....big enough for a DIY Sump? The footprint of the 20L is perfect for the stand after the mods I made. I do have about 2 more inches deep I could utilize but length is perfect and anything taller i feel might make it hard to do maintenance. I also have an acrylic sump I could use as well. Dimensions: Space available - 31"L x 16"D x 25.5"H 20L - 30.25"L x 12.5"D x 12.75"H Acrylic Sump - 20"L x 12"D x 18.25"H Not sure of the volume of the Acrylic sump going to fill it this weekend and find out.
  19. I agree with Zygote, it looks like it's not the bulbs but the clamp that was the issue? And if you're just going to toss them I can put them to good use.
  20. Now this was in my 30 and hiding places were at a premium but just thought FYI. And still picturing the pistol wearing a skunk cleaner hat.
  21. I got a skunk for free with a purchase at A1 a while back......Completely forgot that I had a pistol shrimp until he was parading around with the skunks head. Not a Tang, and a sad series of events but in retrospect the mental image of the pistol is hilarious.
