  1. I hadn't planned on it. This is amateur hour, I'm glad I'm getting all this feed back early. I've seen Adams work, it's nice, I wonder if I can afford it. What does another return hole for emergencies do?
  2. Thanks for sharing, wish I caught it! I don't think there will be any complaints either.
  3. Flow, filtration, up in the air. Lighting: 36x3watt leds. 18 cool whites and 18 royal bkues. Separate power so I can independently turn on and off each color using 90 degree optics. Will hang them from the ceiling, just waiting on the kits. Open to suggestions, aka, I have no idea yet.
  4. Very cool video shared with me about a dolphin "asking" for help, and the divers helping. Don't know if it's been shared on here or not, but it's pretty awesome.
  5. Thanks. I want more height, but that's all the rock I have atm. I have been looking at tanks the same size, and seeing how they worked their rocks. I like this one I found: Granted it's already covered in beautiful corals in pristine looking water and sand, but I like the "shape."

  7. So starting polishing up the tank tonight. Still have yet to clean the back, but I threw in some egg crate, and started playing with some of the rock I've been soaking. I really want to put some time into my aquascaping this time around, if anybody has any advice, let me know. Prepare for the slowest build ever.

Did you get in on the group buy? I've got some coming as well, will pick up at the meet.
  9. How do I determine whats being drained into the pump, in return figuring out what size/type of pump I need? What if my skimmer doesn't fit in the sump?
  10. So this will be the first time I've ever worked with a sump and a drilled tank. I have a new 45 cube, already drilled with the overflows in the back, 10 gallon sump underneath. I don't know how it will all work. I presume one drops the water down into the sump, and then what kind of pump do I want to get for a 10 gallon sump, and a 45 gallon tank? Both the intake/outtake have close off valves on them. It's a slow and steady build, so I'm not in a rush, but can somebody explain the mechanics of how it works to me?
  11. What's that they say about hindsight?
  12. Sorry man! I was actually planning on using the space where the table is in the picture. For some strange reason my gf came around and we rearranged, she's going to let me showcase it, which is quite a surprise. I would have gone with a 90 if I had known! Maybe that will be the name of my new thread. I planned on switching out the 14 with the 29. My folks live in Falls Church, so I was cleaning it up over there. Until I get an RO/DI unit, it doesn't make sense to buy and transport all that water.
  13. Prepare for a new build. Will continue with the Nano as I go, so this is still open for business!

Very modern/industrial looking, I like it. I've got a 45 cube coming in today, might look into making something like this. Or maybe I'll just hang from the ceiling. I'm obviously on the fence about it. Do you have an RO/DI?

Love the look of the stand with the brick and the wood floors. Would you mind sharing a little bit more about the rod you built to hold your lights? I'm getting ready to go the way of the ceiling, but I think my lights are a little heavier than what you're sporting.
  16. Also, looks what's growing on my hammer, just noticed tonight:
  17. to So I actually ended up selling my 55 long via craigslist, but she didn't take the stand Getting ready to put that up on CL. Ended up going with this. Guess I should edit and say 45 gallon (which is exactly what the breeder was, from my understanding.) I've got the lights, just need to get a good protein skimmer, an RO/DI, and a pump. it'll be a slow and steady build. i ended up returning the 40 breeder and 20 gallon potential sump. The idea of drilling them, building a sump and then a stand, and still mounting the lights from the ceiling was just too daunting. Once I ever move into a house, then I'll have a garage for DIY, but for now I'm ready for plug and play action. I also need to slow my roll, if the miss wasn't in the picture, I'd have a tank on every wall. I've got a good handful of projects lined up!
  18. Just a few new pics, few new corals. 55gallon comming soon.
  19. So how is this looking now? Great looking setup!
