I keep mine at 1.005 salinity and around 78-80 degrees... I do have the larger african ones... On a side note, I am debating taking mine down and rehoming the skippers and brackish fish... if anyone is interested.. could have a tank for them as well... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I had 2 of these guys many years ago and loved them...sold them and their tank during a relocation.. saw these two for sale at a LFS and had to go for it.. they have been in a temporary tank for a couple weeks while I made this one... Tank is already plumbed and this pump is installed... plus its what I have on hand.. Also, I'm not sure a smaller pump would have the head pressure to get water up from the sump even at a slower rate.. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Is it ok to use a valve to slow down a DC return pump? I need extremely slow flow for a new tank and have placed a valve inline to slow it down.. any issues? Thanks Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Sorry for the delay on this thread.. I failed to renew my membership.. just got some time to take care of that.. Tank has been up since just after the new year or so... Planning to add some more fish and plenty of room for frags! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Still have to add trim and doors along with a few other odds and ends... coming together tho... All finished up! Added the doors and hardware. Now it's time to add rock and water and get it going! So first step in the process was moving the 120 to another room. (My wife's idea again!) I decided I would do a easy freshwater community in the 120 once I make the switch. So, in order to make the move easier and help fund the new 180, I sold off a bunch of corals. I kept only my large gorgonians and a couple select pieces. We emptied the tank and moved it into another room. My wife and I built a riser of sorts for the tank to make it fit the room and look more appealing. We also installed the wood behind the tank and rocked in the base. Currently it looks like this and you can see the few pieces that were kept for the new tank... Now the real fun begins! Well, my previous 120 was supposed to be my last tank upgrade (I promised my wife).. but the dream of a 6 foot tank made me break that one! It was actually her idea to upgrade (kinda) So here we are.. Yea I checked all the tubing etc.. If I raise it up so its sitting in about 5 inches of water it doesnt overflow... still very foamy skim tho.. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Well I transferred everything over to my new 180 last weekend. About half established rock and half new rock.. about half new water and half established water... My skimmer will not stop overflowing. Is it normal for it to overflow for over a week? It's in the same depth water etc.. I did break it down and cleaned it well with vinegar... I hate running the tank with no skimmer!! Thanks!
