  1. I'm slowly getting the equipment together for my 90 gallon cube. I currently have a AquaC EV-240 skimmer, which is a very tight fit in the stand and takes up a lot of room. I still need to buy a Mag 12 for it. Someone recommended an Reef Octopus NWB150 6''. I'm leaning towards the Octopus because of the smaller footprint but don't want to give up on performance. Recommendations?
  2. Is Coral Glue higher priced super glue gel?
  3. I did a move from Florida to here. Over my time in florida I spent some coin and got to know the owner of the local reef store. Even though he was going to lose my business, he told me to put everything in tubs and bring it to the store where he bagged everything with oxygen and boxed everything. the back of my truck was filled with my reef. I wanted to drive 14 hours straight thru, Wife said "NO!" About 30 hours later the tank was sitting on the floor and I was unbagging everything. I didn't lose a single item. i think Tim even slipped in a few extra's.
  4. I've had bi-color angels in several of my various reefs with no problems. My last big tank I had a Queen Angel with no problems. I bought him from another hobbyist who had him in a SPS tank with no problems. But as they say you never know.
  5. I was half asleep when I wrote this, How can I edit this. No it's not under pressure. Hose going to fluval. I just didn't have time to go out and get correct part.
  6. if you go with a Angel, find one from somebody with an established tank and you know how it acts around corals. When i had my 150 10 years ago I added a Queen Angel. I bought her from someone on cmas and it was in a 400 gallon SPS tanks. I had a mix of sps and lps. Never had a problem. I'd have a problem if I bought a $200 angel from a store and it either died or ate my corals. This time around I will buy almost ll livestock from fellow reefers.
  7. I am just planning on kepping this set up until I get the 90 going. I just needed someplace to keep my friends clown. But then again I've never had a Fish only tank.
  8. He seems to be doing fine now, even at some this morning. This was my first time dealing with a fluval.
  9. A friend just gave me a 60 gallon octogon that he didn't want to take care of anymore. It had one clown fish. I get there and the tank is a mess and wondering what I got myself into. So I get everythiny moved and somewhat cleaned, I can't put the fish into one of my tanks as I'll never get him out and he;s to big to stay in a pico. So the rock that's suppose to go in my 90 goes in and I start filling with water. Hook up the fluval and it won't prime and start flowing. Finally I get trickle after cleaning all of the sponges. I wanted to save some bateria as I was doing over a 50% water change and didn't want to stress the fish to much with clean fresh salterwater, I finally got atrickle form the pump and went to bed. This morning the water is clear and filter is running. So now I just need to do some cleaning and tidying up wires and hoses. Then find some friends for my friends lttle buddy he made me promise to keep alive
  10. They have been in there about 2 months. Yes they seem very happy.
  11. I already have a 90 gallon cube, waiting for a few more parts (pumps, sump, lights, heater) and then everything goes in there. The only way to go bigger than a 90 cube it to take out the Home Theatre and I don't see that happening.
  12. Yes that will happen this weekend.
  13. probably averages out to 45 minutes a week for 47 gallon freshwater, 14 gallon Nano reef and 5.5 pico reef.
  14. I recently got back into the hobby and started out with a 14 gallon Nano cube. It's been up and running about 2 months. I bought the tank off of craigslist and it was established although it did not have any corals or fish. I decided to only buy frags from other hobbyist, although I did get the Clowns (CB) from Petco and bought a few corals from Eastern Pacific Aquaculture. 80% of the frags are from other hobbyist, thanks again. Here are a few photo's, not great quality, I hate digital but pixels are cheaper than film.
  15. Welcome to the addiction meetings are twice a week. I recently got back into the Hobby, These are my previous tanks in order 40, 65, 75, 180, 2.5, 2 year break 75, 150 10 year break. I now have a 14 bio cube, 5.5 pico and and 90 cube awaiting all the add ons.
  16. I just want a quality affordable pump that does not have a high failure rate. Vacation + Murphy's Law = 180 gallons of water on the floor. I need to be mindful of heat and noise because everything is going to be contained in the stand. I might try a deep blue pump for the skimmer but I think a Mag is the best bet for the return pump.
  17. Anyone else have experience with the Deep Blue pumps. For now I'm on a budget (someone took half of my money), so the Deep Blue sounds good but I do want a quality pump. I remember now having problems with Rio pumps.
  18. As stated on a previous post I am getting back into the hobby after a 10 year absence. Slowing buying equipment here and there to get my 90 gallon cube up and running. I have a Aqua C EV-240 skimmer. Which pump would be better a Rio 20HF that does 1290 @ GPH or a MAG 12 @ 1200 GPH. In the past I had both, but I don't remember which performed better. I need one for the return and one for the skimmer.. The Rio is about $50 cheaper than the Mag and has a smaller footprint.
  19. I've been out of the hobby for about 10 years and so much has changed. I previously had 40 gal. 65 gal. 75 gal 150 gal and a 180 at different times. So much has changed and I have a lot to learn. I was trying to ease back into this addicting hobby. I bought a 14 gallon bio cube and had planned on just sticking with that for awhile. I now have a 5.5 pico and a 90 gal. cube as well. I'm still working on getting the hardware together before setting up the 90. I just have tank, stand, 100 dry rock and skimmer so far. If you have any advice on how to properly set this tank up, it would be great to hear your thoughts.
  20. I asked a friend who does tiling and he said get new tile. Sounds like it will be very difficult if not impossible to remove. Good luck.
  21. What is the best way to control the water levels in the chambers so I can add a skimmer?
  22. I took a drive over the bridge yesterday and picked up some corals. Great facility well worth taking a drive over at least once.
