  1. Tank was already drilled and plumbed that way when I got it so I left it the way it was. The way you suggested would have been the way I would prefer but I just didn't want to mess with it. Not the best option but It works fine though.

  5. https://vimeo.com/114124025 More live rock tomorrow. All my live rock is at my friends house so I move some everyday. The live rock I got from Marco over a year ago and I kept it clean in a trash can. No Algae, Aptaisia, pest or critters, smells extremely clean... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Np. I know some people love it and some people think it's a waste of time but i have had a great deal of success with it. I typically put it in the sump in 2 plastic containers and switch one out every year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. https://vimeo.com/113842515 Ceramico rocks went in. Live rock goes in tomorrow....chromis go in Tuesday with 4 bottles of bio spira. That stuff works great. Miracle mud in sump next week as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Every time I do a water change, about 10% once a month, 30 gallons or so, I always go way down deep in the crushed coral bed and suck out water from there. This all but eliminated detritus, nitrate build up, etc. Once the tank settles in, with this method, I hardly ever get any buildup of any sort and I had tanks set up for many years. Bare bottom IMO, although the maintenance is easier, just doesn't look natural to me. On the other hand, sand blows around way too much, and some fishes, wrasses, blenny, etc. require substrate to hide and build homes. I'm a fish guy first, Lps second, Sps last so I like the crushed coral look. Its actually a crush coral sand mixture. It's all about diligence and discipline. Regular tank maintenance eliminates all the negatives IMO. Like many of you, Saltwater aquariums is my only real vice so I don't mind putting the work in to keep it pristine. Thanks for the input from all.

  15. Ok. So after a week of discouraging leak repairs I am back!! Leak fixed. Changed the plumbing a bit. I added four quickie connections just in case, filled up the tank to see how good my herbie method worked. It worked awesome! Filling up now with RO and hanging my radions ala BRS DYI rail system. Fish coming soon. Gonna take a few days to fill this puppy up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. LOL!! Spoke to the guys at Artfully Acrylic and they told me what to do. I was bummed out for a minute. Told me to apply the #16 Acrylic cement, once it fully cures, apply the aquarium silicone over that. I said to myself, better now then when I have a tank full of fish, coral and equipment. I am actually grateful it happened now. Weird. I will forge ahead!! Ninja style!! Gyre should be here today.
  18. Well I filled it up and my plumbing job was stellar! NO Leaks!! Unfortunately for me, My overflow box was leaking down into my lower cabinet. Had to drain the tank, ordered #16 Acrylic cement and tips off of Amazon. Stuff should arrive on Will Arrive by Friday. I will do the repair, and fill again on Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, I will work on hanging my Radions! Got to stay positive and busy!! Lets keep it moving!!!
