I usually start making water for my water change on Wednesday evening, but we just has a major (54") water main break that services my area. Will the repair work affect water quality, service was never interrupted. I have a TDS meter and RO/DI water at 1 currently.

I dont understand this drilling of the return line/locline. Dosent water just shoot out of them? Any one have success with locline check valves?

I am new to the RKE and want to add an ATO. My system came with the cable pictured below, it appears to be the same cable the comes with the DA ATO kit. Can I just buy 2 float switches from the hardware store and splice them onto each end of the cable? I can make my own brackets, will this system be any less reliable than the store bought kit? Does any one have any experiences with the Sicce voyager or HP pumps. I am thinking of getting a few to increase flow in the tank. Can they be controlled by the wavemaker on the RKE?

Yea I am worried about the yellow, seems aggressive. She sees her reflection sometimes and gets angry. I am hoping to add both the kole and the bistletooth at the same time to spread her aggression out. Should I add or rearrange the rockwork as well.

Can I keep 3 tangs in a 90 gallon? Very open rock work. Only two towers (one on each end) with space in front and behind . Looking to keep a yellow, White Tail Bristletooth Tang (or Bristletooth Tomini Tang), and a kole. No plans to upgrade tanks in the near future. I have really good flow, great skimmer, refugium.

Where can you get empty shells? I also try to get the LFS to toss in afew but it would be nice to just order a handfull.

I second what MBVette says. I have been shopping for a CUC for months and no where is close to reefcleaners. I have just been adding a few every week but am still losing the battle. I am interested in a reefcleaners order if you could meet me half way to MD sometime.

I am thinking about upgrading the ballast on my Odyssea 48" fixture to icecap ballast (or Galaxy, Lumatek) pretty much what ever I can get my hands on. I want to run 250 Watt DE XM 20K or Phoenix 14K bulbs. My fixture has C14 connections. Is all I need to do is make sure the ballast has the C13 connector and I'm good to go? I am also running Zwave home automation (~900Mhz) , will any of these ballast interfere with that?

I have the NWB150 and it works great on my 90. Its the only skimmer I have ever had so I have no comparison though. I have mine in a 9"x12" compartment in my sump, its a tight fit but does not seem to matter. I have plenty of room up top to to remove the cup with minimal tilt which seems to be the key part.

Does the location I have it at before any of the canisters matter?

Not to thread jack but I have my press gauge on the water feed inline. Reads about 45 psi is this a problem?

I was wondering is anyone was culturing live food in the MD area? Brine shrimp, copepods, etc.

I also agree with the dont change or do anything to the tank before you leave. I have tried the auto feeder and it always overfeeds. I would leave food portioned out and have someone come and drop it in for you. I draw a low fill line on my sump and a full line, so anyone can see if the ATO is working, and if not contact me. I just went to Austin for the F1 race for 6 days and used the pet sitting service Fetch, to check on the tank. The guy did a great job and kept me informed with daily reports.
