  1. Congrats on your buy. I travel a lot also and the only thing that needs to be done to my tank is to feed the fish and coral. I have a wife and daughter that does that for me!
  2. I got a Deep Blue 24X24 stand for my 3/4" Reefy Savvy 60 Gal rimless and have been using for 3 months now. Salt creep is a problem for me and I have door hinges already rusted. I too am a little worried on how long the stand will last. I have been reading a lot of stand building lately and have decided to build one by myself with more room to house equipment (48X26X31). Right now I have two 10 gal tanks serving as a combo sump designed by the Quantum Reef guys. For my pump, I am using the MP40 and is plenty for my tank. If you have time, I would recommend getting a bigger stand.
  3. I have my Apex setup (including two EB8s) velcroed in the back of my cabinet. I am averaging about a 1 gallon of water evaporation a day and some of that is in my sump area so I agree that the electrical should stay out of the cabinet. I like the idea of covering the electrical outlets and cords with waterproof material.
  4. Looks great! Your sturdy and awesome stand makes your tank pop!! Got the reef savvy all plumbed and will transferring my bc29 this weekend. Will post pics also.
  5. Wow! I feel for you. You are getting a lot of great suggestions and recommendations and I hope in the end everything works out! As a rule of thumb for every 100 ft, you experience 44PSI, if your tank height is 3 ft, that chip will experience about 1.3 psi. So a nickel size chip will see approximately 1 lb of of static force. Will that be enough to be of concern? Yes, but It is all relative on what risk you are willing to accept. Another analogy is look at how bottom bulkheads are installed and sealed. It does not take much torque to create good seal. Just my thoughts and I could be way off someone may be able to correct my rough analysis.

    skimmers?

I am currently using the aquatic life mini protein skimmer 115 and works well in the first chamber of my BC HQI 29. The water level in the first chamber is essentially constant and so the skinner is working nicely with good skimmate output
