  1. The stuff im looking at is called Phosfree and it says it is made out of lanthanum compounds....i just want to make sure this product is safe to use in the aquarium. I would grab SeaKlear if i could find it since that what you guys know is safe.... I was planning on dripping it into my felt filter socks....will this work out ok? 2. I just went into Leslie's pool supply and asked about the stuff, and they were pretty clueless. Is there a non-scientific name it goes by that non-reefers can understand? Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Anyone know where I can get my hands on lanthanum chloride around the northern va area or online? Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  4. I would just wait until after your tank upgrade. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  5. One lb per gal is plenty with good porous rock Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  6. That would be pretty sweet.... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  7. By the time my T-5 fixture bites the dust, maybe they will lol. LEDs are expensive up front, and then in 1 year a better model will be out, you will get dirt for resale, and pay an arm and a leg for a new one. The chinese fixtures may be the only way it's worthwhile at this point... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  8. At least hes out of his misery Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Who knows what the crud really is. I keep a mag 9 in my 30g brute raging 24hrs a day, and that stuff still appears on the container in 24 hrs time. Not much you can do other than clean with some vinegar. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  10. I only leave mine mixed for 48 hrs max and i notice a residue after just one water change.... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  11. I would definitely put the poor thing out of its misery without question. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  12. LOL Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I'm not sure that picture and the word happiness fit together. That tail is totally eaten to the bone lol. It looks like its backbone is sticking out.... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Not at all....it usually lasts a couple weeks I think but happens several times per year. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Yep its a prime opportunity to get a tank for QT or to use for a sump. $1 per gallon up to 55g I believe.... Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  16. BRS is great for certain things like dosing pumps, RODI equipment, carbon/gfo, and dosing powders. Other than those specific things, they've made me a little sour once or twice and I can't say I would be totally shocked. I would definitely be 100% sure they deleted it. Then I would repost the review. If they do it again, I would definitely send them a scathing email and call them out on misleading their loyal customers. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Some more coral pictures... This thing was all white and im glad to see a little life creeping back in. Here is what that same piece looked like just before things hit the fan. Cant wait to get it back... I got a couple wrasses from Coral Hind today and they are doing great and get along with the others. Orangeback Fairy Wrasse Exquisite Fairy Wrasse just under my powerhead Here are the pieces doing extremely well at this point..the torch was shriveled with not much hope but on the rebound. The other 2 pieces are starting to thrive. Tomorrow is cleaning my water mixing brute, all powerheads and pumps in a diluted vinegar mix. Water changes are going to be about 10 gallons every 4 days for a while. Nice to see progress. Also, i think my rainford goby is eating the tiny pellets off the sand and picking some off the rocks. Every time i put them in there, i notice his stomach plumps up a little after ive left him alone for a few hours. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I have been 0 for 2 on candy stripes and would not bother getting another. The tiger pistol i had on my previous tank settled in immediately. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Is your chaeto in shaded areas? If so, it will probably die off and release a lot of PO4 into the water. I would make sure if its in there that it all has good light. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  20. That was my original thoughts. I'll just keep on the current path and see how things go in the coming weeks. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  21. Sorry to hear the bad news. If you need a 10 or 20 to borrow I'm in Vienna near Reston. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Yep ive got plenty in there which has been established for about 8 months. It definitely sifts through a little sand in the fuge. I put about 50% of the food on the sand and the rest on the rocks. Im contemplating putting it back in the dt where there is more sand. Ill see how it goes over the next week and make the switch if it might be better. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't competing with the melanarus for pods, but maybe it won't make a difference... 23. It is quite healthy in both the DT and the fuge. I also added a bottle of tigger pods and got a shipment of pods and other microfauna from IPSF to add to the tank last weekend. Like I mentioned, I have seen him picking a little something off the rocks here and there, but I cant see whatever it is he's eating. It could be the tigger pods because they are tiny. I would feel better if he would eat at least something I drop into the fuge for him lol Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
  24. Thanks for the offer Ron. I'm actually heading over to Dave's this weekend to grab a little from him along with a couple wrasses, so I should be good to go. Hopefully the little guy will cooperate and wolf down a little cyclopeeze.
  25. Still pretty skinny Dave. I've tried feeding nutrimar ova, microvert, jans food, live brine, 0.5 mm new life spectrum pellets, and it doesn't seem to have any interest in any of it. I added tigger pods to the fuge I have him in, but they are so small it would be tough to tell if he's snacking on them or not. I have some freeze dried cyclopeeze, but may have to go grab the frozen stuff and give both a shot and see what happens. I do see him periodically picking at stuff on the rocks but cant really tell what it is. Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
