  6. Davelin: I totally agree. The den is a cool spot, but sometimes makes me wonder. I buy 6 lots of yellow tangs every now and then. I wouldn't even imagine doubling or even tripling the price on them and calling them a "sextet". If anything, you'd get a price break. Though a group of 3 is considered a trio, terms like that take on a whole new meaning in the fish world. Bowiereefer: regardless its a nice link!

  8. Definitely keep me posted. I know that Moorish is a trooper!
  9. Unfortunately because of leasing issues and my maintenance schedule, I'm finding it hard to acquire and maintain a full storefront. Good help is hard to find. We do however have the means to house and quarantine a plethora of livestock which we try to do bi weekly. Not to mention fair pricing. You want it? If I don't have it, I'll get it.
  10. Lets not paint all md vendors with the same brush, or turn this into a md flaming session. I can't speak for many of the states stores, but we quarantine. I understand this is mainly geared toward the "big 3", but for those misinformed, there are more than 3 places in md to get quality livestock. Anyone thinking that md stores basically have bad practices, are uneducated on how to care for livestock, or just in it for money is totally off base or has some sort of bias. We carry healthy livestock at competitive prices. With that being said, I don't know any retail business whose goal isn't to make money, regardless of what state.

  12. Nice tank. I have to agree. The tank doesnt look bad at all. The 2nd coral looks to be brown palys or button polyps, the 3rd, (insert carzy name here) orange zoos. 7.5 hours of light per day on the tank should be ok for now considering whats in there. For aesthetic purposes, a weekly scraping of the glass will knock out the algae.
  13. Adding on to that.. How old are the bulbs, and how long do you keep your lights on now? Phosphate and phosphorus MAYbe something to check for. Depending on how you answer the questions here and from Coral Hind.

  15. Going by the book, your choices are narrowed down to gobies, dwarf angels, clowns, certain wrasses, blennies, cardinals, damsel/chomis, hawks (be cautious) and pipefish. Yeah like anything else saltwater, having a thought out plan before buying usually saves and does better in the long run. Tang police huh?? Hilarious

  17. +1 on 1.5" overflow becoming standard. Especially on larger tanks.
  18. I wouldnt say the need special water conditions, but you would like them to be formidable to any other animal going into your tank. Theyre carnivorous. Them doing well in LEDs depends on what LEDs you have. Some may dose especially for them, I usually stick to the things i usually dose/feed everything else. They can grow pretty large. Ive noticed more and more people propagating them over the last couple years. Hope this helps.
  19. Totally agree. Especially about ribbons. For a 75, a snowflake is probably the more economical and practical solution. Golden dwarf morays are awesome! They also seem to have a cool personality and usually dont get past a foot long, but the price tags a little hefty ($300+) I actually sold one to a fellow WAMAS member a few weeks ago. Buying a zebra eel at a small size (12") isnt a bad look either, but depending on your aquascaping, they could prove to be MIA most of the timebor you'll catch glimpses of his body through the rocks.
  20. Sure.. Somewhat piggybacking on what Zygote said. Not just regulation, but unions and ball valves prove to be quite convenient when plumbing an aquarium (noise levels, overflowing, pump removal/ maintenance). A stronger pump dialed down a little could be used if you happen to upgrade later as well. For example, say Ive used MAG12s(1200gph) on different gallon 6' tanks. 150g-210g The 150 may not need as much push as a 210, but the next size down is 950gph. I could just regulate the flow with the ball valve. I do see where gate valves are cool, but I like to go toward union/ball valve combos. Definitely pay attention to head loss as well.
  21. I would suggest 5-700 GPH for the return pump. Possibly attaching a ball valve to regulate flow. 1" for overflow line. 3/4", or 1/2" for return line.
  22. Aww yes! The good ole' combo of alcohol, glass and power tools!
  23. - No cycling needed at all! Some customers fill their tanks up with this and forget about coral! This is TRUE live rock! (call, email or PM for pricing and ordering)
  24. Make sure if you dont have a generator, stock up on battery operated air pumps! Seems to work wonders for customers last week.
  25. Clinton Portis has(d) one simular to the first tank while living in this area. Its totally amazing!
