  1. she is pretty, sorry the two friends i thought would be interested (one had just bought a used m3 and the other isnt buying a car anymore) she is a bute though, you need to bring it out to the racetrack sometime, let me know if you ever want to come out, i instruct with pca, scca, trackdaze, etc. i know you drift but you could have some fun on a roadcoarse too.
  2. man we need to limit the number of officer winners, haha jk i know they all put in the same money but it seems like everyone who put in tickets last won, MULTIPLE TIMES, need to find a better way to mix em up or use a randum number generator, no easy anwser to it, haha yeh im an auditor and like randomness. or just pull my name out as a winner all the time something like that would be best. all kididng aside though i think the vendors came out big for all of the raffle things, really makes me glad i support their stores and will continue to do so. i couldnt believe it was time to go when the raffle started, really a fun presentation will be at more meeting, my pregnant wife didnt even mind sittin through the whole thing. Definately gave me some things to look forward to with aquascaping. was good to meet those i did, hopefully next meet ill be able to be a little more socail and meet many others,
  3. see ya there, will be my first, im nervous
  4. Yeh i notice the fish getting skinny last week and my autofeeder had stopped working, so he was only getting fed twice when i got home at 6 and again at 930. I am getting a new one tomorrow as i have off so hopefully that will change soon. I get to start telecommuting so that will help this issue even more. thanks for asking though its amazing how much you guys notice and offer advice rather then insulting, really appreciate this forum for that. I think its a really good reason for everyone to put up tank pics/updates etc, not to mention its fun to get ideas from others. the fish are doing just fine right now, they are in a 5 gal bucket as i had no other option but i think it should do fine, just put some pvc in there for them to sleep and all. Doesnt seem to have gotten any worse from the transfer so i am very happy with that, and they still have a big appetite, though they are a little more scared of me now, just as i was gaining their trust BOOM i turn there world upside down. Didnt realize you could take the salinty down right away, ive beein slowly lowering it. updates wil continue thanks for all the comments/help see you guys saturday
  5. cant wait to see the new pics, i think youll be much happier with this size tank. Glad to hear those zoa's have made it thru. Let me know if you ever need help. will be tagging along here.
  6. hhaha all the reading i did said to treat em in the DT and not to leave em in the display but i really thought about just seeing how it goes, i chewawa, well they are both in the QT for now, hopefully all works out. aquascaping is new though. wish i had waited ten or twenty minutes and then decided to just leave it alone, im kicking myself as itwas a pain and i just hope i didnt loose any coral as that will reallllly frustrate me more, well thanks for the input guys.
  7. dangit, they were both in the qt at seperate times, ive had the tang for about 5 weeks now and this is the first sign of ick, ive had the anthias for about 7 weeks. and no other fish added lately, thanks guys for the quick response, i knew it was but was hoping it was just acne, this is my first time in like 8 years having ick, just not fair, its goign to be a LAAATTTEE night. they look so much better today i was tempted to just leave it but id rather have the fish live. oh well. i dont get it, 7 weeks nothing and now this........hope i caught it early enough, all parameters have been stable so not sure what caused it.
  8. was away for the weekend and came back yesterday and noticed the spots, preying it isnt that word noone likes to say. Today both look alot better today and the spots are fewer/smaller on the tang and lighter on the anthias.... anyone have any ideas, they are both eating just fine and arent scratching or anything so i just dont know. the anthias was in qt for about 6 weeks while the tang was in for 4 after a two week qt at the store. hoping for a good prognosis, as i dont want to drain the tank in order to catch these two and try a hypo and 3 day change qt cure. thanks hopefully i hear from you guys soon so i can try to catch them tonight, if not it will have to wait till tomorrow.
  9. i second this, i would even bring a bottle of Eades and give it to him so i could drink it. haha
  10. Coralife 150w MH clamp on with ballast and bulb (10k coralife bulb unsure on age but over 9mo) asking $160 was going to be for my frag tank but have gone a new direction 4x39w T5 retro fixture with inidivid reflectors (36in on metal frame) each light has individ ballast and comes with older bulbs- asking $75 30watt Aquanetics UV Sterilizer - needs new bulb, quartz sleeve is fine and worked till the bulb broke in the move. not sure on pricing but thinking $40 OBO... new bulb is like 40 here http://www.aquanetics.com/index.asp if the price is way off let me know i remember paying alot for it. Inline chiller,(looks like a freezer motor) have to check on power, was able to handle a 150 with absolutely no problem, as in could make it cold without the temp controller. no temp controller as it is sold pending payment, Chiller now 125 2 bags of Bio balls unused-make on offer or frag offer or ?? if you need pics let me know or see for sale thread if your a member
  11. i usually name them but have let friends that helped with the move and all name the last few additions my father named the powder brown tang - Poon yeh he is a comedian the old scooter blenny that went to a friend was named caviar, he also named a 5 legged emrald penta the others havent been named yet cause im trying to pick baby names
  12. I hope she did well, i used to swim with Tom Dolan at washington golf and CC in arlington, see him aronud every so often, i hope she did really well and continues to do so, i am outta town or would have definately been watchin she'll drop the times, if she is doing this well already she has the drive to drop em. good to see she is making you proud, i have a daughter coming soon and hope i can support her as much as you do.
  13. Hope your feeling better i know you were pretty sick for a while there. looking really nice, i will have to come out and visit you sometime(yeh im inviting myself) you should get some close ups of some of those corals and show off the rediculous colors you have. I might have to look up those pumps soon.
  14. the ones of those i tried on an old tank just didnt have the pop that say the coralife aqualight pro 1watt blue leds have, i mean those have great spread and color to them but they werent the strip ones, ill have to try em out again, I was goign to try the current LED strips but for 60-100 bucks its a bit steep for the relatively little time ill be lookat at em
  15. so where did you get the lights? and what brand are they im guessing if they are for a sign they would have more colors avail (red white etc) I am looking for some moonlights and may try these if i can find em for cheap. that is alot o light thuogh, how many bulbs you running in those pics? and can you take pics of the lights themselves
  16. I went even cheaper with one of the 5 gal buckets i use for water changes, just run a bubbler and a spare heater and a small powerhead and did just fine. i have also used a pet food bin (aka safe plastic as well) that was a 15g+ container with wheels i think i got at petsmart. just my savings of 2 cents, i have kept fish in those for over 2 weeks before.
  17. He got some pink panther zoas from me that have been with me for about 4 years now and are very happy in my tank, even thru the move and some i brought to my friend in pittsburgh when i brought him the 75g and lived thru his amonia spike from everything being moved around. I mean i even gave him some kenya tree that i thought could live thru just about anything and it didnt make it. i was thinking metals in the spray as well as i cant think of anything else. I have some more of the pink panthers i have offered him if these dont work i had posted up the iodine in the zoa's, the key is to not put too much in em but cvs will give you the needles no problem for the most part. but i think its more his water and not the zoa's. Hoping you guys can help him more then i cause i dont see what the problem is, besides leftovers from the spray in the sandbed or rock before i forget, do you use RODI water (have a tds meter and all or when is the last time you replaced filters etc? if not let me know i have one you can borrow or you could bring some water to me and try another couple zoa's and pick that sand up that you gave me as im sure you could use it for the new 75, amazing how much more you appreciate a deep(wide) tank. hope we can get to the bottom of this.
  18. thats not a cat its a freaking mountain lion, haha I really like the depth of the tank, what reflectors are you running, many of the nicer reflectors seem to not fill up the room as much, i know my spiders while cheap in in budget disburse alot of light. Sorry to hear bout the ich hope that get gone soon. is the tank drilled or is that an overflow i spy in the left corner? cant wait to see more pics, im very jealous of your tank, my 150 was too skinny for my tastes, the 90 even more so now but you gotta do what ya gotta do. hope that mountain lion doesn learn how to fish.
  19. I think this is going to be a great resource, you guys have done some good work with it and i understand both sides of the argument. I wish i had something like this when i first got here, some of the stores are a bit of a drive for me(though well worth it) I know i came from RC, Reef2Reef, reef santuary etc and every highly recommended WAMAS. without them if something like this comes up on a goolge loacal fish store search that would bring even more people to WAMAS most likely. Basically i signed up as a public member prior to moving up here, then became a paid member, I like the idea of being able to see the availability of stores when you move here without having to pay when it may just be to much driving for some (especially if public transportation is your only option) though that didnt affect me. I found sponsors and those have been the ones that i have stuck with as they so far have had the best options around. Though when i need something fast/emergency its nice to know there are options on store hours and how far things are away. I think that paid sponsors should be the ones at the top of the google list regardless of alabetic order etc, and then non sponsors after them as they do alot for us. just my 2 cents not trying to put fuel on the fire or anthing, so far you guys have some good ideas on how and how not to use this.
  20. "Nice piece!!! I want a frag..." 2nd on the want a frag, great colors and glad you posted it if you end up fragging it just let us know
  21. welcome and love the tank, post up if you need hlep with the move and im sure people will be willing
  22. not sure on the rules but im pretty sure it shouldnt be a problem, may even be able to get some from CVS. If you have other pets, dogs or horses etc, talk to you vet tell them what your trying to do and most of them will be helpful just like with interceptor. cant hurt to ask at cvs though.
  23. its worked for me twice and in blacksburg i sent it to a few others who had mixed results (though majority it did work 3 out of 4) but ill let you guys know how it worked for me this time around, im injecting and then leaving them on the frag rack so who knows, hope it helps someone and if its melting cant hurt to try
  24. Ok well i came over this article last year and thought i would share it as a few have had a similar problem. I have used it twice now with success and just tried it on one of my favorite zoa's tonight that has not opened in a week (had 3 polyps and now down to one and have tried many other things, not to mention its the only zoa not doing well) Melting zoa link Not sure the rules on linking to other websites, hope its ok but this article saved a few zoas for me. If this is against the rules please disable the link, accept my apologies and pm me if yuo want to know where to find it. feel free to knock, try it, say why it works or doesnt, but its not a bad read imo Ill post some pics up tomorrow if the polyp opens up.
  25. I just made the swap to a bare bottom but had a seperate tank so i had the luxury of waiting for one to set up and put the live stock in I just put my rock on the glass as i didnt feel like finding any starboard but i may end up putting some in later down the road, but we shall see. Im very happy with the set up so far, definately need alot of flow for it though, what i though was too much at first with a tunze 6080 in a 90g seems like its just barely not enough now and i plan to put a few small pumps hidden in the back to blow some of the dead spaces under the rock. Good luck, post some pics of the progress definately put air, heater and movement where you keep you fish, and be careful with the type of trash can you buy, the cheaper crappy ones sometime leach color into saltwater, i had a black bin that turned some water and rock black a while back but just a heads up. i think the brutes are pretty good, i may even have a rubbermade 100 or 150g tub you could borrow if needs be
