Too much debris/particles in tank.
srd4080 replied to Incredible Corals's topic in General Discussion
I bought a charcoal and GFO filter, and it took care of it. Clear now. -
+1 to what Glenn said. The baffles do help regulate the volume in both the sump itself and the refugium.

Things looked nice Sonny and he was a great help. Trust me, you got enough cash off of me today to fill up the Hummer a time or two! You knew I wasn't talking about you when I said "young man"!

He's in Frederick. Website is mrcoral.com You can get good directions from there. I work in Rockville, so from Montgomery Village, maybe 25-30 minute drive.

Visited Mr Coral today for the first time in a few months at around 1030 am. The $10. tubs were full of nice frags, other tubs were also loaded and more than fairly priced. Did not catch the young mans name that was working there, (not Brian or Sonny) but he answered numerous questions from my wife and I in a professional, friendly manner. We purchased quite a few $10. frags to try different types of corals and see what we like and what grows well in our tank. He answered lots of questions from us about what grows quickly, what we need to spend more time on, where they should be situated based on lighting and flow requirements, etc. Just my $.02, but my wife and were very impressed and will be back very soon. Of course as always, a couple of freebies were thrown in as well. THANKS MR CORAL!!

Never asked you to agree with my statement. Too much sniping on this board is what I am saying. Whether you disagree or agree is immaterial to the conversation.

Agrees with Sonny.....If you don't like the store or his business practices, go buy your stuff somewhere else and leave him alone. You guys sound like whining little kids that got kicked around on the playground, so you fight these angry little word wars with someone in cyberspace.

That is the one. Thank you for the information.

I have been running skimmerless for two years now, but I want to try using a skimmer. I have a 120 gal setup and a 30 gallon sump. I just purchased a Current Protein recirculating skimmer, but it did not come with the air pump. I am looking for some guidance on what type of air pump would be best. It came with the water pump but not the air pump. Ideas?

+1, on buying a new one. Either that or wait a few weeks until I unveil my new invention called a bulk head unsticker that will sell for $245.

A/c broke 83 degree tank water am I screwed?
srd4080 replied to daharley's topic in General Discussion
There are some really small fans that are inexpensive that you can just hang anywhere and let them blow across your sump or inside the canopy if you have room. I experieniced the same problem that you have last summer and got up to 85 degrees for a few days and did not lose anything. You should be fine. The secret is slowly lowering the temperature instead of just doing it rapidly. The fish and corals can adapt more readily to that type of change. -
You don't stop the site, you block their access to your site via firewall or Intrusion Detection sensors that can block their IP or mac addresses. There are also many other controls that can be set depending on what you have the capability to do, but suffice it to say that you can make things difficult for them if you choose to. In many cases, they are just ignored and eventually they decide that it is no fun since no one is paying attention to them and they leave by their own accord. Most of these types are there to inject malware or other malicious codes just for the heck of it.

You would need to be more specific with your question for me to give you a valid response. "what would it get me"? is not a good question. No one said that I was going to get anything, other than stopping the problem from being a recurring one through technical means which is usually the goal of a security practitioner.

Guy, Any corals left, and if so, what type? The others that I got from you are doing great, so if you have more that you are trying to get rid of, I am probably interested.
-
Thanks for the great buys Guy, I appreciate it!!!

Guy, I will take the baseball size hammer if still available. I have been to your house before and will bring cash. I will pm for a time for pickup on Friday or Saturday?

I did an acrylic with cobalt blue spray paint and just finished a glass 120g with gloss black roll on. Both covered nicely. Takes two coats with the roller, because the first one just kind of smears. The second coat covered everything nicely. Just plain, cheap paint on both. The acrylic has been up over a year with MH lighting, no peeling, etc has occured.

Concur, the table saw is the way to go.

Great to meet you today, and I thank you very much for the great deal on the tank, stand and 'add on's" that you so graciously gave to me. I hope that you get back in the hobby some day and if you do, let me know and I will return some of the freebies. Thanks again!

Ok, I saw your website. That looks like a good product. We use Encase where I am, but I am a government type and we go cheap....
-
Hey Dave, since this thread has gone completely off topic anyway, I saw that you are a computer forensics guy. Do you prefer Encase or FTK and then we can bash whichever one of us disagrees.....

Well said gtipower, well said. Basically what I was trying to say in the beginning....just keep the bias to themselves.
