  10. today i reached into my tank and noticed a slight shock in the water. i unpluged everything and found out it was one of my heaters. how bad is this to my fish and corals?
  11. i got a mandarin goby on saturday and i noticed that his color had become almost white, i thought this was just the stress from moving and he changed back pretty quickly. but last night i saw that he was doing the same thing. im curious to know if this is very common or not?

  16. i got 2 sand sifting stars at the pet store the other day, but i read some where they need a 100 gal tank so they dont starve. my tank is 90 gal and has a 2.5-3 in sand bed is this ok?
  17. i got the impeller yesterday and its all working. so thanks for all the help!
  18. alright i got the skimmer fixed, the vinegar really helped. but i was running it in the sink and it dryed up and the plastic parts on the impeller melted so i need a new one. i have really bad luck.
  19. the problem is i already have the tank, i got it with my reef tank, and really do not have enough money right now for a new one (who new starting a fish tank is so expensive?). im not really sure how big it is though i was just guessing... heres a pic of it next to my 90 gal reef tank
  20. heres a better pic. it is life reef, it says on the side. the skimmer minus cup and tubes is about 13x6.5 the pump is supreme 9.5 mag drive pump P.S. i got my first two fish today!
  21. Wow, thanks thats alot of help. Actually my reef tank is 90, my refuguim is about 45, the tank for the octopus is about 35, and i want to get anouther 20-30 hooked up. I was estimating actual amount of water not including live rock. the tank for the octo is a 35 gallon (i think) hexigonal tank and does not have too much floor space because it is kinda tall. i already have a skimmer but i dont know what it is rated because it was given to me with the reef tank i have.
  22. it only has a part for water to come in from the pump and a part for it to come out of the skimmer and the cup. sorry, i could only fit one pic
  23. i have read about them a bit, i know they dont live very long, they can go through a hole the size of their beak (about 3 millimeters) and they are very strong. i pretty sure i can escape proof the tank (i've had other problems with escape artist geckos and frogs), but im scared that my dog might hit the tank with its tail or some little kid run around the corner and scare it half to death.
