  1. lol nvm... we posted at the same time. GL.
  2. They are light defusers (spelling?) They are usually in the lighting section near the flourescent bulbs.
  3. Setups look great. Thanks for posting.
  4. We have two BioCube 8 nanos and love them. They have been working very well for us stock out of the box. The only mod I made was to remove the bioballs and add a heater. No idea if it could support an anemone with stock lighting.. but zoas and lps have done well.
  5. I also have just always used water and a towel to clean them.
  6. Not yet, though I have thought about snaking some through the PVC for a cool effect. I would like to have nightlights, as I think they make the tank look nice, but honestly I have been so busy with moving into our new place when I built the PVC stand I just wanted it to be done and functional.. thinking it would only be there a few months. Nine months later it's still there No problem man, I'm glad to hear it helped. Congrats on getting it complete, and would love to see some photos when you get the chance. The endcaps sound like a great idea to make it a more finished look.
  7. Looking good, nice start. 40 breeders are awesome tanks, looking forward to seeing this process.
  8. Fantastic photos and beautiful tank.
  9. I believe mine was 3/4" as well.
  10. Sounds cool. A XF could be neat to mess around with and see if it really helps. I would be tempted to add other frags in there though lol. GL!
  11. Cool man, you're welcome. Goodluck with the project and def post some photos of how it turns out.
  12. I also use Salifert for my testing.
  13. No kids, just a bratty gf When I move the tank I am going to run the cords through the wall into a "fish room" or sorts. For now, I just wanted something out of the way. I am running 2 x 150w MH Phoenix 14k bulbs with Reef Optix III fixtures and Ice Cap ballasts.
  14. Thanks for the nice words. Ron, Below are some photos to show you a little more detail. It was simple to do, I just used a pvc floor brace to hold it up and wedged it together between the back of the tank and wall. I did it this way bc we are moving the tank to another spot, where I will make a more secure and long lasting setup. I did not want to tear up the wall. I'm sure you could use some clamps or brackets to secure the pvc directly to the back of your stand to make it secure. I just didn't go that route yet. Close up of the top. I just drilled small holes through the pvc and screwed in the eye brackets and secured the chain with an S hook. View from the side. View of the bottom support. Again, this tank is only here until I tile the floor and put it in it's final place.
  15. Here's a simple PVC mount that I built for around $10. I simply connected and glued the PVC parts, then painted it a satin black. It's been working perfectly for about eight months now.
  16. Yea that sucks.. no question. Sorry to hear about your loss. As others have said, I would wait a few weeks before making any drastic decisions. Don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes.
  17. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I've always used IO Reef Crystals and have been very happy with the results. I do not have much SPS though.
  18. I am not looking to do PC bc I am trying to get better color out of my zoas. I have PC lights on a nano and would prefer the look of MH like on my 120 setup. I'll continue to snoop around and check out what ya'll suggested. Thanks again everyone for the help.
  19. Thanks for the info on that. It's interesting to hear. So I guess then I should be looking at a 250w 20k? I was originally thinking a 150w bc the "tank" size is going to be around 12"x by 18" long by 12" high.. was afraid of overkill with the 250w. Any thoughts on a good 20k brand bulb?
  20. I've never ran 20k bulbs before.. ever. Only 14k, so I know nothing about the 20ks other then the ones I've seen at LFS. Which do you like and why? It seems to be between Ushio and Radium. I am looking at the DE 150w. This will go on a small/low tank with zoas, ricordea, mushrooms, and other LPS. No other bulbs will be used. I am not looking for excellent PAR and rapid growth.. only a nice appealing look to pop the colors of my zoas and such that will also offer good health. Any opinions would be great. Thanks.
  21. IMO I would add the sailfin first and let it establish itself in the tank for as long as possible before adding a Yellow Tang. YTs are bullies. It would be good as well to let the sailfin get some size to it and add a smaller YT when you do. It's all in the odds though. You could get a docile YT and be fine, or a bully from day one. Unless you see two perfect tangs at the same time, I would go with the sailfin first.
  22. That's interesting to hear. I had a zoa frag come in with zoa pox.. and I did not know about this treatment. It could have helped. Goodluck with your zoas.
  23. I would also try ordering one from Wallys Aquarium in Annandale/Alexandria. I have gotten good prices on my tanks there for several years. Tom used to stock the larger tanks regularly, but I believe with the new ownership they have gotten rid of a lot of them. They can order though so I would check them out. I got my Tech 120 there at a fantastic price.
  24. I agree with the others. After all that you have gone through to complete that sale, I would consider it sold and end of story. It's very rude on the buyers part IMO.
  25. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and all of the nice replies. I am going to look into joining the club. I have met several people from here before and they had nothing but good things to say about WAMAS. Though access to the Classified section might be a dangerous thing for us.
