  1. I don't know for certain but my guess is that something(s) may have kicked the bucket during the move and because the water volume was significantly reduced to make it transportable it contributed to the problem being amplified and then a chain reaction followed
  2. During my move from Old Town Alexandria to Herndon I managed to have a tank crash almost immediately after arrival despite taking every precaution possible. While I should be livid I'm not. I'm going to take this as an opportunity to redo the tank differently. I'm ordering a new skimmer and I'm looking at possibly using t5s instead of a MH to light the tank. First real crash I've ever had and it's definitely disappointing :|
  3. Well I'll be delaying putting up my new tank completely for some time now. The move was apparently more stressful than I had imagined and resulted in a crash :| While I wait to order my new skimmer and consider T5s I'm going to bake my rocks and start fresh. :(
  4. Ah! I was talking to them earlier and they're out of stock on the 200 and 250. Though for my sized tank they suggested the 170 which won't be ready for another week or two
  5. Where did you find those skimmers available? I've been looking but everyone has them listed as pre-order!
  6. Hey Guys! I'm sorry about not updating but expect some big things soon. I just relocated and I'll be setting up my new tank this week. I'm replacing the Tunze skimmer with a Royal-Exclusiv Alpha 200 Cone most likely and I'll be removing the dart pump for 2 EcoTech 20s. Probably getting rid of the 250w for t5s as well but that will be down the road. I PROMISE to update the thread as soon as I get the new tank running
  7. Sean, that would be awesome! Is there any chance I could just bring the setup out there with me and you could help me diagnose the problem? If it's too much trouble don't worry about it. I'm still waiting on an email response Yeah that's what Chip told me!
  8. Ok, I'm not seeing any inline fuses. I've noticed that the ballast isn't making a buzzing sound or any sound for that matter. So I'm assuming it's gone and died. I sent Giesemann an email but I fear it will take them awhile to get back to me.
  9. No, I'm not sure of either. But the bulb is 6-7 months old. Not sure how I'd check the ballast, but I'll look at the fuses.
  10. Came home to find my light bulb burned out in my pendent so I need to find a replacement bulb ASAP. Does anyone have an extra or know a LFS in VA that has any in stock? Thanks!
  11. As I said before in my first post I never set out to try and ruin Jeff. So with that in mind I wanted to post up the resolution to the situation. This morning Jeff delivered a new tank that is spectacular. I'm having a new stand constructed and Jeff has agreed to come back next week to do the install of the replacement tank on the new stand. It's regretful that things happened the way they did but at this point in time I'm definitely satisfied with the product that has been delivered.
  12. Man this sucks to hear! If you need a hand on the weekend getting this tank back together feel free to shoot me a message!
  13. I don't think the red slime remover was your problem. You ran it while at least 3 others of us did as well and no one had any problems. I think there remains another issue at hand.
  14. Yup. Basically follow these steps to fight your cyano and then add in some critters who will watch you slaving to do it your own.
  15. Eclipse is an IBM project. IBM files more patents in a year than EVERYONE else combined. No country, company, or person comes close. That being said, Microsoft doesn't go after those projects because IBM doesn't go after Microsoft. It's an unspoken agreement. IBM is a fantastic company to have patents, they rarely go after anyone. When Amazon decided to start suing internet businesses for using "1 click" check out, IBM threatened to sue them on 9 different patents. Amazon withdrew their lawsuits and IBM did the same. There have been a few open source projects to be closed down for patent infringement, but there are so many open source projects they just simply go under and no one notices. Since they don't sell the products you can't sue them for monetary gain, but you can force them to close the project. Care to explain how open source movement has radically changed the software world? I'm a huge fan and I contribute to nearly 10 different projects, I represent my corporation on 2 open source projects. But I'd never say it's radically changed software. Surely the 10 different licenses out there that aren't compatible with one another hasn't radically changed the software world? Those licenses have only slowed down certain advancements and technologies and resulted in tons of legal threats. There are a number of successful projects but beyond them the term Open Source is horribly misused. Open source is great, but it is never truly open source with the licenses they have attached to these projects.
  16. I think it's a marketing thing to sell a few more critters. I had an outbreak and I did some extensive research on it and found nothing in regards to any critter that feeds on the cyano. There are a number of causes for cyano. Even an oversized skimmer can contribute to an outbreak. People recommend you cut down on your light cycle, decrease feedings, increase flow, and syphon out as much as possible. It'll still take a few weeks before you really start to make any progress. Or you use red slime remover and in 3 days your tank is clean. Worked like a charm for me and a number of other people on WAMAS.
  17. I've had mine for 6 months and the larger one hasn't progressed anymore towards being a male. She developed the tall fin and then stopped. No color change or size changes.
  18. With Anthias, once you have them established in a tank (females) is it possible to introduce a male or other females? If so, what are the rules? Smaller or larger?
  19. Nope, no new fish and no one bothered him. 6 Months or so now. I brought him to AquaCo this afternoon to have Sean give it a look. He said he had good body weight and no apparent parasites or infections. He just kind of gave up it seems.
  20. Yeah, he seemed to be eating fine before, but then it was like he just kind of decided to give up and quit trying. What a shame, it was a beautiful fish.
  21. I've got 2 in my 80g cube (total volume 120g) and they're doing good. The bigger one STARTED to turn into a male and then gave up half way. Has the male fin, but the female colors.
  22. My young copperbanded has passed on to the great coral reef in the sky. Now on to the question: I don't have the slightest idea why he kicked the bucket. He was healthy and swimming around until about 4 days ago. He didn't have any visible infections, but he stopped eating, and he hung out under an overhang and didn't really leave the area at all. The other fish in the tank look healthy and fine and swimming around. What could have done him in?
