  1. Decided to snap a few pictures since I am "working" from home today. So far things have been going decent, with the exception that I lost the firefish last night. I believe the jawfish is loving it..he has burrows built everywhere. Here are a few pics of how things are looking. I am moving a lot slower and looking at mostly having mushrooms and softies. Still pleased with the aquascape and overall appearance compared to what is was like. Full Tank Shot 2.2.09 Some mushrooms LPS (a year old now) My first coral that I purchased when I had a 12g aquapod And this (my scientific name) which was about 1.5in about 4 months ago Thanks Mike
  2. I believe Centreville Aquarium Fins and Feathers (Ashburn)
  3. Thanks Steve appreciate the link. Thanks..going to look a little deeper into the Sapphire BC29R. Appreciate everyone's responses. Mike
  4. Thanks...I saw that nanocustom is just now releasing on that fits in the middle chamber and Oceanic has a small one that goes in the middle chamber. I'll definitely have to do a little more research on those two and look at what Sapphire has out there. Appreciate it. Thanks
  5. I was wondering if anyone that has owned or currently owns an 29g biocube has had a HOB protein skimmer, specifically the Red Sea Prizm. It looks like it might be a tight squeeze in the 2nd filter chamber and trying to see if it did actually fit. If not the Red Sea has anyone tried other ones. I have a 3 inches between the back of the tank and the wall, so that was my reasoning for the Red Sea Prizm. If there are some other ideas let me know. Thanks Mike
  6. You could try giving Centreville Aquarium a call as well...I believe they have them
  7. Never had any experience with doing this..but found this picture http://www.nano-reef.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=42051
  8. I currently have 2 29g biocubes and feed once every other day.. mysis shrimp 1 frozen cube and rotate between cylopeeze and baby brine shrimp mixed with the mysis. I also thaw the cubes in distilled water and drain before putting in the tank. Tank 1 (going on one year) Canary Blenny Neon Goby Yellow Watchman Goby Carpenter Wrasse Tank 2 (going on 10 months) Clown Blue Spotted Jawfish Firefish Six Line Wrasse The only issue I have run across was due to my own neglect, but am working on getting tank 2 back in shape.. :-). I do 10% water changes every Monday.
  9. Thanks.. Agreed..I lose a little bit but have noticed some of the zoas and palys on the bottom don't stretch quite as far towards the top with the new set up. I am doing a little rearranging, so will get some more pics when I finish that up. Going to work on getting some of the things I couldn't have in the tank with just PC lights. On a side note, I have not had to worry about the temperature at all...it has remained at 79-80 degree range.
  10. LOL..agreed..maybe that is why I got the last neon goby... :-)
  11. I have a neon goby in one tank and a yellow clown goby in the other. The yellow clown goby seems to have more character and likes to hang out on the coral, while the neon likes to find crevices to hang out in. I think the yellow clown goby would be a good addition.
  12. After neglecting my tank and not being happy with the appearance, I thought it was best to rearrange. Still working on the zoas and having all of them opening, I saw a couple that actually are open this morning, so there might be some hope yet for them. Arrangement before.... Re arrangement after...(last night 1/10) this morning...(1/11) Overall, I am happy with this arrangement for a few reasons. 1) I can actually get to all the glass to clean it (WOW..what a concept) 2) I can now see my jawfish all the time. I didn't want to disturb his old home, so I built around it and made a cove to view him 3) The flow actually seems to be a little better with this 4) I believe I have more area to place corals 5) I found some things I didn't even know I had..I am sure they will get some coloring back I still have some work to do and getting all the glass clean and look into some modifications with the bank filter system, but I am happy with the overall look of the rock at this point. Let me know your thougths on the new aquascape. Thanks, Mike
  13. I had a Nemo and firefish in my 12g aquapod. Had a peppermint shrimp in there that lasted a few months then disappeared. Mike
  14. Thanks Thanks...and yes the Sugar bowl was awful Thanks....let me know on the LEDs, since I have another hood I can play with.
  15. Well after talking with nanotuners, I opted for another route. I found a 20 inch T5 set up at half the price of nanotuners. I am going to watch the temperature for a bit, to see what type of increase there is. http://www.marineandreef.com/Nova_Extreme_..._p/rcu01083.htm I gutted my old hood and cut the middle portion of the hood out. The fit was almost perfect. There is a small area where fish could jump out, but my overall goal was to have everything covered to keep the cats from falling into the tank, which I believe I have accomplished. Overall, I am happy with the way it looks and will allow me to get some other types of corals. It also has given me another hood that I can play with and try new things. Below are some pics....I didn't get a picture from above, but it still has the front feeding portion of the hood and the cover for the filtration in the back. I have to try and get a picture of that later. The old top The new look Blue lights only
  16. thanks..i'll check nano-reef out and possibly give that a try. thanks...appreciate it looks like there are some opportunities... thanks Mike
  17. thanks...i'll look into LEDs
  18. Thanks..yeah I think there may be a chiller in the future...from what I have seen it might only be MH...I haven't seen a 20in T5 but maybe there is a way to squeeze 24in in there...:-) Mike
  19. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has done any lighting modifications for their Biocube 29? I currently have the 4.36 PC but would like to upgrade. I am not able to do an open top because of other critters in the house. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas...it would be appreciated. I checked out nanotuners but didn't see anything other then the 4.36 for the biocube. Also, if anyone has an idea and would like to do the modification that is appreciated, too ...:-), I don't have much in the way of frags but willing to pay. My electrical experience is not good, my wife doesn't let me do anything since I tripped the breaker to the bathrooms. I currently have a hood that isn't being used that I would like to have the modification done to. Thanks Mike
  20. Thank you very much... Mike
