I put an elibi angel in my 220 mixed reef. He hasn't killed anything but he nips and harasses many corals. My tank would be much better off without him. For a while he seemed to be leaving everything alone, but I have reduced feeding due to a cyano outbreak. I have a fish trap that is great for catching tangs, but not so great at catching dwarf angels. Short of taking the water out to get him, I dont know what to do. Any Ideas? If you have a solution and can come get him... you can have him!

I wasn't seeing any substantial growth under my 10k halides so I started checking water parameters. My MAGNESIUM was low. I bought some magnesium from bulkreefsupply.com and added it to the tank. Everything is growing alot more than before. Turns out corals need magnesium along with calcium and alk to deposit calcium to their skeletons. Low magnesium actually prevents corals from growing. I dont have any supplement lighting (actinics), only metal halides. I run them for 10 hours per day with no negative effects. Hunter

I had a tomato clown that bit me every time I put my hand in the tank. Lucky me he was hosting in an anemone. I put the net over his anemone one night when he was sleeping, poked him with a stick and got him first time! Then I donated him to one of Dave Lin's school tanks so he can bite little kids. Hunter

Wow... it amazes me the size tanks that tangs get put into. I feel bad for my sailfin tang that is in my 220 gallon because she is TOO BIG for it. A yellow tang in less than a 50 gallon, I imagine, is enough to kill it or at least make it sick. Tangs swim alot and need room. Sell the fish or get it a bigger tank! Also make sure you are feeding it algae sheets/nori frequently.

I guess I will add my name to the bonehead list. I have done this about a half dozen times... Marble Floors are Great.... just soaked it up with towels... Now I have a hole with a tube running into the bathtub so if I leave hte RODI on by accident the water goes into a drain. I felt so smart when I did this... and so dumb before when I left the water on...
