Ok so get this... I drained my tank down to two inches and got nervous about my big tangs who were about to be out of water behind large rocks.... I was able to net the sailfin because she is huge and just didn't know where to go. Everyone else was behind rocks. I have 300 lbs of live rock in a 200 gallon tank and most pieces are 40-80lbs! I didn't even see the problem fish during the draining... ! I hope I didn't kill anything! I tried for a day with a spear and actually grazed him once but now he knows whats up... I give up for now... might try the spear and traps in the future! Good lesson for people with large reefs.... I am such an idiot for buying that fish... Any other ideas? I may be downgrading in the near future (fish tank needs to be upstairs instead of the basement) and this is a good reason to do it sooner than later......

I have six tangs and run carbon constantly through a phosban reactor. I have never had a problem but my experience is limited to 18 months... It was a speaker about a year ago who said that the carbon leads to HLLE... I remember it... it was the meeting in Tysons at the scool if I remember correctly...

I have noticed that they are opportunistic to corals that aren't doing well. Especially zoos... If the coral isn't doing well from poor lighting or flow or water conditions there is a chance you will find the stars on the coral "eating" them (from what I can tell). I have also dropped two harlequin stars into my tank and am waiting for results. It sucks to buy $50.00 of shrimp to control "free" critters. I would take them out but as you can see, many people say they are harmless. I recieved them from another member I got corals from. I remember seeing his tank and saying "oh wow look at all the starfish! Did you buy them?" Now my tank has over 1000... not exaggerating... probably a low estimate... and... the tanks only been up for 18 months!

Ya the good thing about BRK is that its a fish store and a nursery so my ULM loves going there!

I am considering draining my 200 gallon to remove a fish or two. Anyone have any containers I can borrow? I am looking for maybe 3 50 gallons or 5 30 gallons... I have about 60 gallons here but I need about 140 gallons of additional.... cheap recommendations to buy them somewhere?

Ok so this particular fish doesn't want anything to do with any traps. I think he stays nice and fat eating coral and other things growing in the tank... no interest in mysis cyclopeez flakes etc.. I dont want to drain it.. mainly because I dont have 200 gallons of containers... and also because I am afraid some things wouldn't do well from the stress.... I have to get this fish out... Any other ideas? I will give $100.00 if someone can come get him out without destroying anything!

FYI - mine was great until yesterday when I noticed him attacking a very expensive coral!! Today he doesn't seem to be doing it... but what do I know... I only look at the tank maybe 30 min a day... I have recommended one to everyone I talk to... maybe not anymore...

I have a coral or two that are losing tissue and not doing well. I was watching my tank and saw my Midas Blenny bite a healthly coral and remove tissue... I watching him do it a few times before I started trying to scold him by sticking zip ties in his hole! Anyone ever have a bad experience with these fish? I have had him about a year with no problems... If he is attacking corals could it be territorial? Maybe I need to feed him more? The colony above his hole is getting destroyed which I thought was damage from running carbon but maybe he is eating/biting it... FISH SUCK... What a nightmare... This could be worse than the Eibli Angel that nips everything... I maybe draining my tank soon to rid my tank of a few problem fish...
