    Got this from Dave...
  2. Jason is selling his T-5 retro's right now...
  3. I'm surprised that Mr. Coral didn't pack the shipment with ice packs... Did you contact him about the DOA shipment?
  4. dude this is a awesome build you are truly a master of carpentry (well more so than me...) The sound is hardly noticeable to me in the video good job on the plumbing...
  5. Dude this is awesome to have another reef related expert in WAMAS! I have always enjoyed seeing Peacock Mantis shrimp tanks hopefully one day I will set one up. BTW welcome to the Club!!!
  6. I completely understand how you feel but this statement is a contradiction. The best way I have found to save cash and buy semi top of the line would be to surf the for sale forums on RC and here... Either way if you want the best your gonna have to pay for it... For the skimmer you really don't need a recerc model, many people have successful reef setups that don't use them. So with that said if you tight on cash you really don't have to only look at those models, for example a Euro-Reef RS80 skimmer used will run you about $180 on average on RC and they are a great skimmer with a small foot print. The retro T-5 lighting I would go with TEK only because you can get a great deal on them from a very awesome WAMAS member, and they are a great light to boot. As for the main return pump I have had great success with the Mag series pumps and used silicone to make them run quiet. The rest would be trial and error your your particular setup but I'm sure finding the right setup for a fuge or wave making won't be that difficult. Just my $.02
  7. Bruce, I didn't know that filter did that great of a job... I was looking at buying a RO/DI unit soon and now I'm thinking that this might just be more cost affective for me. (15 gallon display/20 gallon sump) thanks for the info...
  8. More flow within the tank... I can't add a powerhead to my display without displacing a whole heck of a lot of sand... you know if its not the size that matters right? well my sand bed is only 2 inches deep so I don't think it is adding a whole lot to the system but my main goal is to increase the flow significantly... I think pulling one cup at a time over a period would be frustrating to be honest... but I guess the only other alternative would be to remove my corals temporarily to someones frag tank while this process takes place... again this is only the development phase...
  9. Question: If I switch my system to a bare bottom system would my tank go through another cycle? would I have to temporarily house my sensitive corals in a different system while I change things over? I want to change things around but I'm afraid because of my system being so small I would have corals die on me. BTW I have a 15 gallon display with a 20 gallon sump. What do you guys and gals suggest? I know pysigs just converted his system and things are looking good, but he has a larger tank so the volume of water along with his increased bacteria on the rocks handled the change... but... would the same work for a smaller system?
  10. This calculation also includes the turnover rate of your powerheads....
  11. also keep in mind with your return if you have PVC elbows or any type of wave making device (SWID) your flow will greatly decrease, in addition to the height decrease in flow. for example my return is by a MAG 9.5 (@ 3 ft = 850GPH) with a head of 3 feet, running 6 elbows in the return drops the return rate to roughly 600GPH.. I'm assuming the elbows decrease the flow by 40 GPH each. The decrease of the elbows might be more or less but from what see in my system thats my guess...
  12. yes yes welcome to our family!!!

  15. hahahahaha thats too funny...
  16. you can get a flood light clamp from home depot and clamp it on to a pipe and direct the light to the fuge... thats how I have it and it works great... I have tons of coraline growing along with pods and grape calupra...
  17. dude please dont turn this into a poor vick thread... that guy is an idiot, someone with so much shouldn't be so stupid... he deserves to be beaten.. him and his dumb brother... BTW that house was nuts... only if I hit the lotto....
