  1. Im working on setting up my new 45g tank and I bought a eheim 1260 pump but it seem like it is too strong for my overflow. Anyone have a Eheim 1250 that they are not using so I can borrow to test out if that pump work better at lower GPH? I will only need it for a day or two to test it out before ordering it online. Let me know. Thank you in advance. Hung
  2. i think adding 2" would be enough since my tank is 24x24 cube and i would say no more than 2" will overflow if return pump break. I dont have the setup up and running yet but still in building process.
  3. would raising the overall height of the sump from 15" tall to 17" help to keep the sump from overflow if the return fail? Because the sump will just fill up in ALL chambers if return pump break down. Also by doing this it will guarantee that the return area will stay small as the divider stay the same so if the overflow line from main tank clog, the main tank on top can handle the water from the return area pumping up there. What do you think?
  4. Hi, Im building a sump for my nano tank. I usually use a simple tub as a sump with all equipments together for my previous tank but I want to design it slightly different with fuge and separate chamber this time. The sump is 15" tall indicate by the red line. Here is my quick sketch. Please advise. Thanks.
  5. Im breaking down my 90g tank and setting up a small tank in the near future that should be up and running by early July. I sold of most of the coral but still have a few things that I want to keep and would like someone with a stable tank to hold them for me (2 clams, some small coral, shrooms and some fish) Please let me know I will PM you detail if possible. I live in DC and would prefer someone not too far but if no one around can take them then I don't mind a little drive. Thank you very much in advance.
  6. i havent test for phosphate yet but I think I read somewhere that when the dieing coral turn green it usually due to high phosphate but im not sure though cause I don't remember where I saw that information.
  7. One of the frag that RTNed on me last week turn green when inside my tank. It was white but start to turn green now. I remember someone said that it mean my phosphate is high if this is the case? What should I do to lower it?
  8. Thanx so much for the info guys. So problem is Im going with bunch of people who like me barely know how to swim (in the pool), how deep is the reef there? I don't want to sign up for the wrong thing and end up going to some diving trip which I can't do.
  9. so the only place for snorkling is in key west?
  10. So I assume that you need license to go snorkle? or can I just jump in?
  11. Im planning to go to the beach this summer. I been to St. peterburg in tampa bay 3 years ago and it was awesome. Any other nice beach in florida that I should visit? or should I go back to peterburg again? I havent been to miami or key west, how are they compare to st.peterburg?
  12. I like it. Look great. Can you tell me your setup?
  13. I think you have enough flows in the tank with 3 koralia. you should be fine.
  14. how long do I leave the interceptor in the tank before I turn the skimmer, carbon back on and do water changes? I did some readings but some people do for 6hrs while other leave for much longer. Also how long should i wait between each treatment? Im planning to do 3.
  15. Interceptor is a controlled substance, buying it or selling it without a prescription or a license to dispense controlled substances is illegal and not allowed on these boards.
  16. Im pretty far away but I have a 24" PC light and bulb you can borrow.
  17. Just a question, Is it easy to catch the goby out or he is hard to get to? I used to have a puffer in my reef that was very easy to take out once he start to cause problem.
  18. I have an AC Jr controller for about a year now. I have 1 pH probe and 1 temperature probe. The pH probe is in the overflow area and have algea and coraline growing on it. How do I clean the probe? Do I have to replace it every year or something? I want to use a toothbrush to clean off the algea around the tip area of the probe but there is a ball on it I dont know if brushing it will break the thing or not. Please advise.
  19. I used to have a sand sifting goby in my old 45g. He was fun to watch and all but at the same time it was a nightmare. My tank constantly get cloudy especially I had fine grade sand. Luckly for me he decideed to go carpet surfing couple week after. I was not sad that day.
  20. I tried a bit of kalk too, maybe not enough but they seem to be able to grow back after a day of looking pale. I wished I introduced pulsin xenia instead of anthelia because at least xenia look kinda cool when they pulse.
  21. One side of my tank is getting cover by anthelia. Putting kalk paste on them is not an option because they are growing all over my sps encrusting on that rock and I dont want kill the sps that is near by. Now Im thinking of manunally using a scissor to cut off all the anthelia which I tried but just a small portion. I got bunch of anthelia that I cut off floating around my tank. Not sure if this will do any bad effect to my tank though.. Will this cause a spike of some sort?
