  1. I bought a diamond goby maybe about a week ago. He did a really good job on keeping my sand clean and very fun to watch. But since the time I bought him, my tank is always cloudy with sand constaly blowing around all over the place. Anyone have these problem? Should I remove him or he will eventually settle down?
  2. I purchased a RO/DI filter from Aquasafe. It come with a Saddle-piercing valve as seen here http://www.melevsreef.com/rodi_install.html Anyway I dont think they allow me to pierce the water pipe in my building (im living in an apt) so what other way do i get the water into the filter? Is it possible to hook it up to take water from water output in the sink? Thanx
  3. I need to ship a few frags to my friend but I never ship anything before. Can someone give me some instruction? What is heatpack or icepack? where to buy them local?
  4. they have a pair small size at Aquarium One right now.
  5. But this is not a must to add right now? I mean I can always add the top off sometime in the near future after i set up my sump right?
  6. I think the benefit is to give the refugium some nutrition to grow algea. What is a good skimmer for 60gal system. My budget is ~200$.
  7. I havent think about the top off. What is it and what does it do? Any website with info about the top off?
  8. This is my design. Please advise...
  9. Seem like 15 Gallon 24x12x12 is good. I think I will have enough room to life the cup as my skimmer will be inside the tank. So by calculating the sump volume this mean that this is the volume of the return and skimming area right? The fuge will be seperate correct? Now let say I pick the 15gal 24Lx12W and decide the fuge will be 2.5gal which is 4"Lx12"W. I have 20" left inside the tank to be use as skimming area and return area which is total up to be 12.5g. According to what u say this will be the sump volume correct? I probably dont need a big return area as the only thing I stick in there is my return pump so maybe another 4". That left me with 16" left for skimming and doing bubble trap bubble. Also I think overflow--->skimmer---->return<----fuge<-----same overflow is what im gonna do. Any other things I should watch for?
  10. Alright here is my scenario, My tank is 45gal dimension is 36"L x 12"W x 24"H. Im planing to build a sump/fuge for it. I bought a siphon overflow box rate 600gph. I did a calculation from RC website and here is the result Using the following input parameters Tank Length = 36 inches Tank Width = 12 inches Height of Water above Overflow = 2 inches Flow through sump = 600 gph Sump volume is calculated as Sump Volume need to handle tank overflow = 3.7 Gallons Recommended Minimum Volume for sump = 9.7 Gallons The area under my tank inside the cabinet stand can only hold a tank size up to 30"Lx10.5"Wx18"H or if I push the tank back and lift it up a bit then I have another option which is 27"Lx12"Wx16"H. So according to these space limit, what tank should I get? Since recommended Minimum Volume for sump = 9.7 Gallons I think I should get around 15 gal or more. Im planning to do skimmer chamber--->return<---fuge Im thinking of sump to be around 10gal or more and the rest is fuge with at least 2.5gal size for fuge. What do you guys think? Any tank size that will fit my scenario? Should I get another overflow with smaller flowrate? Should I go overflow from main tank to skimmer chamber and to return and do refugium as a seperate system? Please advise. Much appreciate in advance
  11. Congrat, possible to share a pic?
  12. How about mushroom or Hermit Crab or shrimp?
  13. my clownfish always shrugs next to each other. I thought they got ich and was stress out but they seem fine and do that once in a while. Anyone know what these mean?
  14. I need to replace my current 250w electronic ballast. It use to light a phoenix 14K De bulb. I can't spend more than 100$ any idea where I would geta good one online? Or maybe someone selling a used one?
  15. Are these the pic of actual frag? if not how many polys on each frag of the 2 types?
  16. Total process took 4rs. Rock was out of water but were damp under wet towel So far after the move Im missing 1 green emeral crab, 1 firefish and 1 anemone crab I kept 10gal of old water and replace another 20gal of fresh saltwater. So far as of this morning amonia 0.25 or less Nitrite : 0 pH: 7.8 Nitrate: 0.5~1 All fish are eating normal and look healthy not stress out. Here is the pic before and after (sorry for bad picture I will take better one later) Before (cover in hair algea and red slime algea) After
  17. Look good so far. About ur 55 that alot of rock u got.
  18. I think skimmer-->fuge--->return is okay
  19. I dont think u want to skim out the pods and nutrition from the fuge.
  20. So far seem like pulsing xenias are all dead. Are they known to be easy to die from transporting between tank and sit outside for too long??? Everything else seem doing fine My big toadstool leather before the aquascape was not doing good (havent open for a week) now still not open but color is fine seem alive.
  21. Re Aquascape the whole tank today. Picture will come tomorrow. One sad thing is a lot of coral died from what i see. Maybe they can recover but not sure.
  22. Not sure what the size for 58 but i know that its 18" much much better.
  23. Wow so cool, did u take a pic?
  24. thanx for the advices guys. Im gonna start looking around for a new tank now. If anyone have one for sale let me know. Looking for 45~75 around this range. In the mean time, Im planning to re aquascape my 45g tomorrow because right now rock are stacked against the back all and the 2 side wall. This is my current 45g with rock aquascape. All the x are rock. Only the small openning of sand in the middle. Rock stacking against the back and 2 sides are so hard to keep the tank clean and most of all very hard to get water flow into the middle :( _____________________________ IxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI IxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI Ixxx...................... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI Ixxx.......................xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI Ixxx.......................xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI
  25. Im planning to upgrade my tank or total aquascape in a near future If upgrading I want to go from 45g 36"Lx"12W"x24H" to something similar but wider like 18W. I dont know but I just hate having a tank with 12"W not much room for sandbed around the rock. Mayeb it just my tank but right now my aquascape just suck, there are alot of dead spot in my tank without flow. I know alot of u guys upgrade ur tanks before. Any suggestion about the tank size selection, material (glass vs arcylic).I just want to know what I have to worry about when it come to upgrade. Do I have to get a new tank set up a few days in advance prior to the big move? Basicly any advices, suggestion I need to do to prepare for upgrade is helpful.
