DFR February 10, 2022 February 10, 2022 I didn’t get the frag, but based on the appearance, it looks like a thicker encrusting monti (probably palawanensis) which tends to be a slow grower. You could always reach out to the seller if you’re curious about the growth rate. It is a nice looking coral though! Do you have any pics of your?
YHSublime February 10, 2022 February 10, 2022 I jumped on the JF Kung Pao, Beach Bum, and TSA Minions montie train like 2.5 years maybe more ago. I'm just NOW starting to see some fast growth. I wish I got to pick and choose what grows fast and what doesn't, but I think the starting size has a lot to deal with it. Now they are all quadrupled in size from the booger frags they were, they are locking down space and encrusting fast.

I still have his frag waiting to go, lol. I should bump him again! I had more room then as well, real estate is slowly fading, and in my case, completely faded unless I make room.
YHSublime February 10, 2022 February 10, 2022 Also not necessarily patience, my tank is so small that even moving things an inch or two in a different direction can offer totally different parameters from lighting to flow. Some corals grow so fast for me, others get shuffled around so much they never really adjust, and some don't make it. Overall, I'd say I see pretty slow growth compared to more established tanks.
howaboutme February 10, 2022 Author February 10, 2022 Yeah, I saw that he let his WAMAS membership slip so I decided not to 1) bump that thread and 2) I generally don't like pinging people that aren't active. So I did this thread. If he saw it, great! If not, others can chime in. I've placed mine in 2 or 3 different spots (easy since it's not encrusted over plug). Hi, low, more flow, less flow....Blah!
