mling July 18, 2004 July 18, 2004 After being sucked into a power head about 5 times, my Condi finally managed to commit suicide! I finally found a fool proof method, thanks to Tamie, of stopping it’s suicidal tendencies but looks like the last attempt finally did it in. It was alive after that last incident, for a week, but clearly “bleached”, now it has disappeared. I guess it died and my Tiger Cowrie got it. So now I have recently purchased a Bubble tip. It is doing great and my Tomato Clown almost never leaves it. I understand that it is not easy to keep an Anemone in captivity. It has been 5 days and it seems to like this one rock as it has just been moving around it. My Condi never stayed put for the 2 months we had it. What should I be on the look out for with my Bubble tip ? I was told not to feed it for the first 5 days. I guess I will feed it today and then twice a week. Does the Bubble tip have a preferred diet besides shrimp ? I read that it does not need feeding if a Clown hosts with it. Is that only true in theory ?
Sph2sail July 18, 2004 July 18, 2004 I use the coral chow we made at the tank food party to feed mine. The bubble tip definately eats, even though my clowns are in it all the time. Yes, feed it 1-2 times a week. It will be very happy with you. s
mling July 18, 2004 Author July 18, 2004 Your Bubble tip looks really great! How long have you had it ? Do you ever hand feed it small pieces of shrimp ? The coral chow you made is so good that my bubble tip does not get much of a chance to get it since my fishes and inverts gobble them up real quick !
Guest clownfish4 July 18, 2004 July 18, 2004 You need to target feed the anemone with the chow using a turkey baster. I fed my Hatian Reef Anemone a silverside once a week and he did fantastic. As for clowns feeding the anemone, some believe it is true but I don't believe it is enough for an anemone in captivity. Also, anemones are quite difficult to keep in captivity. They need strong lighting and from what I have read they live over 100 years in the ocean and less than 10 in the aquarium. HTH.
