bues0022 June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 Are there any Orchid Dottyback breeders around the area? They are on my stocking list and I'd like to start lining up a pair. Thanks!
KingOfAll_Tyrants June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 (edited) I highly doubt that anyone is breeding them commercially in the area. I’m also a bit doubtful that anyone is doing it as a hobby and will have fry ready available right niw, but I could be wrong. Honestly, I’d just get it from ORA. You can either have it drop shipped here through live aquaria. Or, Petco and I know a number of other local shops get their stock directly from ORA as well. https://m.liveaquaria.com/product/3465/orchid-dottyback-captive-bred-ora-reg?pcatid=3465&c=15+1500+5141+3465 Edited June 29, 2018 by KingOfAll_Tyrants
treesprite June 30, 2018 Share June 30, 2018 Are you looking for a pair just to have two that won't fght, or hoping to breed them? If you are planning on trying to breed them, they should probably not come from the same group anyway. If you have a smaller tank that you could test out pairings and be able to separate fighters easily, and aren't worried about needing to get rid of incompatible fish, then you could try that, if you are really invested in the idea of having a pair. bues0022 July 1, 2018 Author Share July 1, 2018 I just want a pair in my tank. I’ve had good luck in the past with getting from a local breeder, as I could get two from different batches to help make sure I get less fighting. Ordering a pair from LA or even finding two at any LFS would most likely end up with two the same size. This leads to fighting and not good outcomes. I want one big and one small. This gives much better results.

Chad Vossen was pretty big into breeding them. https://www.facebook.com/VossenAquatics/
