YHSublime May 29, 2018 May 29, 2018 Hey WAMAS, So I got a Valentini Puffer, super tiny, adorbs, and I've seen it nipping at polyps on my SPS. I read that they were not reef safe, but only in regards to clean up crew. My hammers and SPS have limited polyp extension now, and the only change was the fish. Anybody have experience with V. Puffer's and corals? Odds are it's the culprit? Cheers!
cpu933k May 29, 2018 May 29, 2018 I've had 2 different valentinis (and a blue spot puffer) in my reef tank and I never saw them nip at any corals. I don't have great PE on my SPS, but I have other non-reef safe fish in there who are the more likely culprits (bicolor angel or burgessi butteflyfish).

It's possible I've peaked at bioload with the new addition. But you know, when you hear hoof beats, think horses, not unicorns.

TonyInVa May 29, 2018 May 29, 2018 I have had mine for about 9 months with no issues to coral. It did eat a sexy shrimp.
YHSublime May 30, 2018 Author May 30, 2018 Set up a nano just for him Fallen into this pitfall so many times. I have had mine for about 9 months with no issues to coral. It did eat a sexy shrimp. Yeah, he's had a day with my inverts, but once the corals start getting messed with it's bye bye.
YHSublime June 3, 2018 Author June 3, 2018 As long as he's not bothering my zoas, and I'm losing some polyp extension, I think it's a good trade.
