Nakie31 December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 Can someone please tell me what this is on my trumpet coral?
WheresTheReef December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 Are you referring to whatever is coming out its mouth? Hard to tell from picture, but was it redish brown? If so, then likely zooxanthellae being expelled as it acclimates to higher intensity lighting.
Nakie31 December 1, 2017 Author Share December 1, 2017 No this looks like a feather it is actually on the top of the coral and was waving down towards the corals mouth.
Jon Lazar December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 Is the "feather" coming from what looks like a small bare spot, otherwise surrounded by tissue? It's probably a barnacle or similar filter feeder. Not a problem.
mogurnda December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 (edited) Hard to say from the photo. The first three candidates in my mind are ctenophores, vermetid mucus, or Bryopsis. Edit: or zooxanthellae, as Wheresthereef said. Edited December 1, 2017 by mogurnda
